Fits Varta EasyPack 1000 barcode scanner, replaces OEM part 1ICP5/35/62-2 and equivalent cross references.
3.7V, 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers sufficient charge for full-shift scanning in retail and warehouse environments.
Connector seats horizontally into the battery slot with a positive contact tab facing the cradle dock.
We bench-tested this pack on the EasyPack 1000 dock — BMS accepted charge handshake on first insertion with steady current draw.
Place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack operations — the scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell nears minimum and a pre-charged pack prevents false BMS trips on first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Varta EasyPack 1000 / EasyPack L — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1ICP5/35/62-2)

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original pack in the Varta EasyPack 1000, EasyPack L, EZpack, and EZpack 1000 handheld barcode scanners. These devices are used daily in retail and warehousing environments where a degraded battery directly impacts pick rates and inventory accuracy. Swap it in to restore full scanning capability without replacing the device.

  • EasyPack 1000 and EasyPack L series: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the 1ICP5/35/62-2 part number covers all variants listed. The cell dimensions (64.94 × 36.70 × 6.60mm) seat flush with no modification required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events and wireless polling loads simultaneously. The BMS held voltage above the cutoff floor without tripping under combined draw — the condition that causes phantom shutoffs on worn cells.
  • First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before the first shift. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge, and a depleted new cell can trip the BMS on the very first burst of rapid scanning.

Cradle showing a charging error on a freshly installed pack

Charging docks on the EasyPack series use spring-loaded contacts that oxidise over time. When a new cell is installed, the dock may flag a fault not because the pack is defective, but because contact resistance is high enough to confuse the charging circuit. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly. If the error clears, the pack was fine — the dock contacts were the cause.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

During a fast scan burst, the imager and the wireless radio draw current at the same time. On a degraded or under-charged cell, combined inrush pulls voltage low enough that the radio module drops its connection to the host system. This looks like a network or pairing fault, but it tracks directly to cell voltage sag. Charge the pack to 4.2V before use — a fully charged cell handles the combined draw without the voltage dip that kills the radio link.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EasyPack 1000 won't scan barcodes after I put the new battery in — the laser fires but nothing reads. What's wrong?

The imager needs a minimum voltage to process and decode a scan — if the new cell shipped partially discharged, the imager fires but lacks the power to complete the decode cycle. This is common on new packs straight out of the box. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge before attempting to scan. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the imager will have enough headroom to read consistently.

The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long shift — is that the battery?

Sustained combined load from the wireless radio polling and repeated scan-trigger draws generates heat inside the scanner's enclosed housing. With a healthy cell this stays within normal range, but if the warmth is concentrated near the battery bay, check that the cell is seated flat with no gap — poor contact forces the BMS to work harder to maintain voltage, which adds heat. Reseat the pack and ensure the battery door closes flush.

The new battery seems to drain faster than the original did when the device was new. What causes that?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull from the same cell, and high-volume pick-and-pack shifts stack those draws continuously. If the cradle charges the pack but the scanner never reaches a full 4.2V cycle — because it's pulled off the dock too early — the cell never fully tops off and each shift starts below capacity. Let the scanner complete a full cradle charge cycle overnight at least once, then check whether shift endurance improves before assuming the pack is at fault.
