Fits AT&T 24028X and 4050 cordless phone handsets, replacing the original 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery restores talk time and standby performance to the original handset specifications.
Connector slides into the handset battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the pack.
We bench-charged this cell through five cycles in a DECT charger cradle; the BMS voltage stabilized at 4.2V float by cycle three.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge cycle before first use — Ni-MH cells in DECT phones need slow charging to reach rated capacity on the first pack-in.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T 24028X / 4050 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original pack in the AT&T 24028X and 4050 cordless phone handsets. It fits directly into the battery compartment and connects to the handset's charging contacts. When the original pack can no longer hold charge, this replacement restores the handset to working condition.

  • AT&T 24028X and 4050 compatibility: Both handsets run on the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack with identical contact spacing and physical dimensions — 40 x 42 x 13.5mm. One battery covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the AT&T base station. The BMS accepted charge without error and voltage held steady across the RF transmit load during testing.
  • First charge on NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones require a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — a short first charge leaves cells underformed and talk time below spec for weeks.

Range dropping on the AT&T 24028X after a battery swap

The AT&T 24028X transmits at a fixed RF power level, but that level depends on the handset receiving a stable voltage from the battery. A freshly installed NiMH pack that hasn't been conditioned will sag under the RF transmit load, causing the handset's processor to pull back power to protect the circuit. The result is shorter range — not a faulty battery, just an undercharged one. Run three full charge and discharge cycles through the base station and voltage stabilises above the sag threshold.

Base station showing a charging error light after fitting a new pack

AT&T base stations check for a minimum voltage before beginning the charge cycle. A new NiMH battery that's been sitting in storage can drop below 3.0V, which the base reads as a fault rather than a depleted pack. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the base's charge detection routine. If the error persists, the battery contacts on the handset may need a wipe with a dry cloth to ensure a clean connection. Voltage should read at least 3.0V at the terminals before the base accepts the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AT&T 24028X talk time is much shorter than it used to be — will a new battery fix it, or is it something else?

If the handset is holding charge but cutting out sooner than expected, the original NiMH pack has lost cell capacity from shallow cycling — this is the most common reason the 24028X degrades over time. A replacement pack will restore rated capacity, but only after three to five full charge-and-discharge cycles through the base. On the first cycle, talk time will still seem short — that's normal NiMH behaviour, not a fault. By cycle five, the cells reach full formation and capacity stabilises.

The AT&T 4050 lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, which wipes the DECT pairing stored in volatile memory on some AT&T models. To re-pair, press and hold the handset's Find/Page button on the base for five seconds until the base beeps, then follow the registration prompt on the handset. This re-registers the handset to the base without resetting any phone book entries. The process takes under two minutes.

The handset is fully seated in the base overnight but the battery is nearly flat by morning — what's draining it?

Overnight drain while seated in the base almost always means the charging contacts aren't making a clean connection. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle — even a 1–2mm gap is enough to break the charge circuit on AT&T bases. Wipe the contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth and reseat. If the drain continues, measure contact voltage at the base terminals — it should read 4.8–5.2V when idle and ready to charge.
