Fits GE 2101, 2103, 2184, 2189 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part numbers AN8526 and BT10.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full talk time and standby performance on DECT base stations.
Connector slides into handset battery slot vertically; no locking tab — seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell on a GE base charger circuit; BMS accepted the pack within two charge cycles.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE 2101 / 2103 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (AN8526)

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for GE cordless phone models 2101, 2103, 2184, 2189, and over 38 additional handsets that share the same AN8526 / BT10 specification. When the original pack degrades, the handset loses charge rapidly and drops off the base faster than expected. This replacement restores wireless operation to that handset.

  • 2100 / 2180 series compatibility: These GE handsets run a shared 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack with an identical footprint and connector pinout. The BMS on each model expects the same charge acceptance curve, so one battery fits across the entire group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the GE base station charge circuit and confirmed the NiMH trickle phase terminated correctly at full cell voltage. The BMS accepted the pack without triggering a charge-fault state on any test unit.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: Place the handset in the base cradle for a full 16 hours before taking it off-charger for the first time. NiMH cells at rest from storage carry a suppressed capacity ceiling — the slow first charge breaks this in and brings the pack to its rated 600mAh ceiling.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after first three cycles

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may see noticeably less talk time than the original pack delivered. This is normal cell behaviour, not a defect. By cycle four or five, capacity stabilises at the rated 600mAh ceiling.

Base station showing no charge or error light on a new pack

A NiMH pack that has been sitting in storage can drop to a voltage level the base station's charge circuit treats as a fault condition rather than a chargeable cell. The base reads the low voltage as a dead or incompatible pack and refuses to start the charge cycle. Remove the handset, hold the power key for five seconds to fully discharge any residual circuit voltage, then reseat it firmly in the cradle. If the base still shows an error, use a standalone NiMH charger to bring the pack above 3.0V before returning it to the cradle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE cordless handset is losing range — calls break up near the far end of the house even with a new battery. What's causing it?

NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load of a DECT handset, especially in the first few cycles before the cells are conditioned. When pack voltage drops during transmission, the handset's output power drops with it, cutting effective range. Run three full charge-discharge cycles first. If range is still short, confirm the handset is seating fully in the base — a partially seated cradle delivers trickle current only, leaving the pack chronically undercharged.

The handset lost its pairing to the base after I swapped the battery. How do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset's memory, and some GE DECT models drop their base registration when power is fully lost. This is not a battery fault. Re-register the handset by pressing and holding the Page or Find button on the base for three seconds, then following the pairing sequence in the handset menu — typically navigating to Settings > Registration > Register Handset.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting on the base. Why isn't it charging?

The handset must make firm metal-to-metal contact with the cradle contacts to charge — a slight tilt or debris on the charging pins breaks the circuit. Check that both the handset contacts and the cradle contacts are clean and free of oxidation. If the base indicator shows charging but the pack still drains, the base may be supplying trickle current only; confirm the power adapter is firmly seated and delivering the rated output voltage printed on the adapter label.
