Fits Southwestern Bell FF900 and S60503 cordless phone handsets requiring 3.6V Ni-MH power cells.
3.6V, 600mAh rating delivers full talk and standby runtime on these DECT handsets without voltage sag during transmission.
Connector plugs directly into handset battery slot; polarity marked on pack ensures correct orientation every swap.
We bench-tested this cell in FF900 charging cradle — BMS accepted voltage immediately, no base station error codes on insertion.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Southwestern Bell FF900 / S60503 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Southwestern Bell FF900 and S60503 cordless phone handsets. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Voltage and connector match the factory specification exactly.

  • FF900 and S60503 compatibility: Both handsets run on the same 3.6V Ni-MH cell with identical connector orientation and physical footprint — 40 x 42 x 13.5mm. The base station charges through the same contact points regardless of which model you have.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH compatible bench tester. The cell accepted a full charge without voltage deviation and the base station registered a charging state on contact — no fault signal.
  • First charge after installation: Seat the handset in the base immediately after installing this battery and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. Ni-MH cells ship in a partially discharged state — skipping this slow first charge will leave the pack short of its rated 600mAh capacity from day one.

Talk time shorter than expected after the first few uses

Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity in the first one to three cycles — this is normal electrochemistry, not a defect. The active material in each cell needs several full charge and discharge passes to reach stable capacity. On a fresh pack in the FF900, expect talk time to improve noticeably by cycle three or four. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times before drawing conclusions about the battery's capacity.

Base station contact light not coming on after battery swap

A Ni-MH cell that has sat in storage for months can drop below the minimum voltage the base station needs to detect a valid battery — typically below 3.0V for a 3.6V three-cell pack. The base interprets this as an absent or faulty battery and shows no charge indicator. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly so both charge contacts are flush. If the light still does not appear, connect the base to mains power and leave the handset seated for 30 minutes — the trickle current will bring the cell voltage up to the acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FF900 handset is losing range after I put in the new battery — calls cut out at the far end of the house even though it worked fine before. What's happening?

Ni-MH voltage sags under the RF transmit load when a fresh cell hasn't been properly conditioned. The handset's transmit power is tied to available voltage — when the pack drops below roughly 3.2V under load, the radio can't maintain full output. Run three full charge-and-discharge cycles first: use the phone until the low-battery alert fires, then charge for a full 16 hours each time. Range typically recovers to normal after the third cycle as the cell reaches stable capacity.

The FF900 lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — the handset just shows "searching" and won't register. How do I fix this?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is completely removed during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. On the FF900, press and hold the page/find button on the base for five seconds until the base beeps, then go into the handset menu under registration or paging and initiate a new base search. Once the handset confirms registration, place it back in the base to charge.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base. It's fully charged when I take it out of the base in the evening, but dead by morning.

This points to the handset not making clean contact with the base charging pins rather than a battery fault. If the handset is even slightly tilted or the contacts are oxidised, the base stops delivering charge current — the handset then runs on standby draw alone and the pack is flat by morning. Remove the handset and wipe both the handset contacts and the base charging pins with a dry cloth. Reseat the handset and check that the charge indicator light on the base activates within 10 seconds of seating.
