Replaces RB64 and RBP10 batteries in Telstra Freedom 120, 220, 250, and 320 cordless handsets.
3.6V and 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers enough capacity for typical daily standby and talk cycles on DECT handsets.
Connector slides onto the two-pin dock inside the handset battery compartment with a simple push-fit, no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this cell in a Freedom 120 base station charge dock — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and voltage climbed steadily without error light.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telstra Freedom 120 / 220 / 250 / 320 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (RB64 / RBP10)

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for Telstra Freedom series cordless phones. It fits the Freedom 120, 220, 250, and 320 handsets, plus five additional models in the same range. Install it when the original pack no longer holds a charge or the handset dies faster than it used to.

  • Freedom series compatibility: These handsets share the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack format, the same connector pinout, and the same base-station charging circuit. One battery part number covers the full range because the voltage rail and physical form factor are identical across models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Freedom handset. The BMS accepted the charge from the base station without error, and voltage held steady through the RF transmit bursts during a call.
  • First charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partially discharged state need a slow first charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short means the first few cycles will feel shorter than expected.

Range dropping after a battery swap in Freedom handsets

Ni-MH voltage sags under RF transmit load — especially in the first few cycles before the cells are conditioned. When voltage dips below the handset's transmit threshold, the radio pulls less power to compensate, and range shrinks noticeably. This is not a fault with the battery or the phone. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles and the voltage stability improves. After conditioning, the handset should reach the same range as the original pack.

Base station showing no-charge or error light with a new pack

Ni-MH batteries self-discharge during storage and often arrive below 3.0V. Some Freedom base stations check pack voltage before starting the charge cycle — if the voltage reads too low, the base flags an error instead of charging. The fix is a trickle charge: place the handset in the base, leave it undisturbed for two hours, then remove and reseat it. This nudges the pack voltage high enough for the base station to accept it and begin a normal charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Freedom handset talk time is still short after a week — is the battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — this is normal chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Each full cycle conditions the cells and recovers a little more capacity. Run the handset down until it beeps for low battery, then seat it in the base for a full 16-hour charge, and repeat that cycle at least three times before judging talk time.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones drop their pairing registration when power is fully interrupted. This is a phone firmware behaviour, not a battery issue. Re-register the handset using the base station's paging or registration button — on most Freedom models, hold the button on the base for five seconds until the handset prompts for a PIN, then enter the default code (usually 0000).

The handset is fully charged but the battery drains overnight even when I'm not using it?

A cordless handset in standby draws a small continuous current to maintain DECT sync with the base — if the handset is not fully seated in the charging cradle, it draws from the battery rather than the base power supply. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the base and that the charge indicator light comes on. If the cradle contacts are dirty, wipe both the handset and base contacts with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charge light activates.
