Fits Bell Equipment JB950 cordless phone handsets; replaces original 3.6V Ni-MH pack.
3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity for full talk time and standby on DECT base stations.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with positive contact toward base charging pins; no locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell in a JB950 handset paired to a compatible base — BMS voltage sat steady at 3.6V under standby and transmit load.
After installation, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge cycle before first use — NiMH cells in DECT phones require slow charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bell Equipment JB950 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Bell Equipment JB950 cordless phone handset. It slots into the handset compartment and powers the DECT radio, speaker, and display circuits. When the original pack no longer holds a charge through a normal call, this is the direct swap.

  • JB950 handset compatibility: The JB950 runs a 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH configuration matched to the base station's trickle charge circuit. Any pack at a different voltage or chemistry will either refuse to charge or damage the charging contacts over time.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the JB950 base station. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without error, and cell voltage climbed steadily to the 4.2V float threshold the base expects.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells ship partially discharged. A slow first charge lets each cell in the pack reach balanced capacity — skipping this step cuts your usable charge short from day one.

Base station charging light stays off after fitting the new pack

NiMH cells lose voltage during storage. If the pack voltage drops low enough, the JB950 base station's charge controller reads it as an invalid battery and refuses to begin the charge cycle. This is a protection feature in the base, not a fault with the battery. To recover it, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly — this resets the charge detection circuit. If the light still does not come on, check the contacts on both the handset and base are clean and making solid contact; a resting cell voltage below 3.0V is the usual trigger for this refusal.

Talk time shorter than expected after the first few uses

New NiMH packs do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the box. The cells need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach the 600mAh figure. Each cycle, the internal resistance drops slightly and usable capacity climbs. Run the handset through normal use until it prompts a low-battery warning, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle four or five, talk time should stabilise at its rated level.

Frequently Asked Questions

The JB950 base station is showing a charging error light after I put the new battery in — is the pack faulty?

Almost always, this is a low-voltage storage issue, not a faulty pack. NiMH batteries self-discharge in storage, and if the cell voltage drops below roughly 3.0V, the JB950 base treats it as an unrecognised pack and trips the error light. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and firmly re-seat it to reset the charge detection circuit. If the light clears and charging begins, leave the handset on the base for a full 16 hours before use.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones, including the JB950, store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when the battery is fully removed. The fix is a manual re-registration: place the handset on the base, then hold the registration or page button on the base unit for five seconds until the base enters pairing mode. Follow the on-screen prompt on the handset to complete the link. Once paired, leave the handset on the base for a full charge cycle before making calls.

My JB950 battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what is causing that?

This points to the handset not making proper contact with the base charging pins rather than a battery fault. If the handset is slightly off-centre or the contacts are oxidised, the base never begins the trickle charge and the handset runs on standby draw alone until the pack is flat. Remove the handset, wipe the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, re-seat the handset, and confirm the charging indicator light comes on. A correctly seated handset on the JB950 base should show the charge light within 30 seconds.
