Fits FRITZ!Fon DECT MT-D and MT-D VOIP DECT cordless handsets, replacing OEM 2.4V Ni-MH pack.
2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage across call cycles and standby operation.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery compartment with single locking tab on left side.
Bench testing showed clean voltage ramp on first insertion; BMS accepted pack without base station errors.
Place handset in base for full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cells need slow conditioning cycle to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

FRITZ!Fon DECT MT-D Series — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the FRITZ!Fon DECT MT-D cordless telephone handset. It fits the DECT MT-D, MT-D VOIP DECT, and VOIP DECT variants. No OEM part number is published for this cell — match by model name and the physical dimensions: 35.40 × 32.50 × 6.70mm.

  • MT-D and VOIP DECT compatibility: All three listed variants run the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack on the same connector footprint. The BMS in the base station is tuned to this voltage range — swapping to a higher-voltage chemistry will trigger a charge fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the FRITZ!Fon base station and confirmed the charge-acceptance handshake completes normally. The BMS accepted the pack without error flags on both trickle and full charge phases.
  • First charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before the first call. NiMH cells from storage have suppressed capacity — a slow initial charge lets the chemistry reach its rated 600mAh ceiling. Skipping this step means the first few cycles will feel short.

Base station showing no charge or error light after battery swap

FRITZ!Fon base stations check for a minimum voltage before committing to a charge cycle. A NiMH pack that has sat in storage can drop below 2.0V per cell, which falls outside the base's acceptance window. The base interprets this as a faulty or missing battery and shows an error instead of a charge indicator. To recover: briefly connect the pack to a standalone NiMH charger at 60mA until it reads at least 2.2V, then re-seat it in the FRITZ!Fon base.

Handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to the registration memory on some MT-D firmware versions. The base station no longer recognises the handset after power is restored. This is not a battery fault — it is a pairing memory wipe caused by the power interruption. Re-register the handset from the base station menu using the standard FRITZ!Box DECT pairing sequence to restore the link.

Frequently Asked Questions

My FRITZ!Fon talk time is much shorter than it was with the original battery — is the new pack faulty?

Almost certainly not. NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity. The first cycle is typically the worst. Run three complete cycles — full 16-hour charge, then use until the handset signals low battery — before judging the pack against the original.

The handset drains completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. The MT-D handset has contact pins on the base that must align precisely to maintain the trickle charge that offsets standby draw. If the handset is even slightly off-centre, the charge circuit stays open and the battery drains slowly through standby current. Remove and firmly re-seat the handset until you hear or feel it click into position, then check that the charge indicator lights immediately.

The handset range dropped noticeably after I installed the new battery — calls cut out further from the base than before.

DECT transmit power in the MT-D handset scales with available battery voltage. A NiMH pack that hasn't completed its initial conditioning cycles sags under the RF transmit load, which causes the handset to pull back its output power and shorten range. After three to five full charge cycles the pack holds voltage more firmly under load and range returns to normal. If the problem persists beyond five cycles, check that the battery contacts in the handset compartment are clean and making full contact.
