Fits Swissvoice Aeris 196T and 196PT cordless phone handsets, replacing original 2.4V Ni-MH battery pack.
2.4V, 600mAh capacity delivers rated performance in DECT handsets; voltage and mAh match OEM specifications exactly.
Battery installs into handset slot with flat connector orientation; no locking tab — slides in smoothly and seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell in a 196T simulator; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no voltage droop during standby draw simulation.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Swissvoice Aeris 196T / 196PT — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Swissvoice Aeris 196T and Aeris 196PT cordless phone handsets. It replaces the original cell when the handset no longer holds a useful charge. Dimensions are 35.40 × 32.50 × 6.70mm — confirm these match your existing pack before ordering.

  • Aeris 196T and 196PT compatibility: Both models share the same handset housing, battery bay dimensions, and 2.4V supply rail. The connector orientation and cell footprint are identical across this pair, so one pack covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on this pack using a NiMH-compatible charger at the correct termination voltage. The BMS accepted charge without delta-V cutoff errors across repeated cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells arrive partially discharged from storage. Skipping the slow initial charge leaves the pack well below rated capacity from the start.

Range drops on the Aeris 196T after fitting a new NiMH pack

The Aeris 196T's RF transmitter draws a short current spike each time the handset communicates with the base station. A NiMH pack that hasn't completed its first few conditioning cycles has higher internal resistance than a fully conditioned cell. That resistance causes the voltage to sag under the RF load, reducing transmit power and cutting effective range. After three to five full charge-discharge cycles, internal resistance drops and the voltage holds steady — range returns to normal.

Base station shows no charge or error light after installing the replacement pack

NiMH packs can drop to 1.8V or lower during extended storage. Some cordless base stations won't initiate a charge cycle if the incoming cell voltage is too low — the charger circuit reads the pack as faulty. Remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly in the base. If the error persists, use a standalone NiMH charger to bring the pack above 2.0V before returning it to the base cradle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Aeris 196T talk time is much shorter than the box says — is the new battery faulty?

It's not faulty. NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and don't reach rated capacity until they've been through three to five full charge-discharge cycles. Run the handset down until it signals low battery, then return it to the base for a full charge — repeat this three times. By the fourth cycle, capacity should be at or close to the rated 600mAh.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing record when power is completely removed during a battery change. The fix is to re-register the handset manually. Place the base in registration mode (usually a button hold on the base unit), then trigger the handset's registration menu — typically found under Settings > Register Handset. Once paired, the handset will reconnect to the base normally.

The Aeris 196T battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This points to the handset not making full contact with the base charging pins, not a battery defect. If the handset sits even slightly off-centre, the charge circuit stays open and the cell drains on standby draw alone. Remove the handset, clean the charging contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat it until you hear or feel it click into position. Check that the charge indicator light activates immediately on reseating.
