Fits V Tech VT1100 and VT2020 cordless phones replacing OEM part 5M702BMX.
2.4V and 600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full handset operation on this DECT platform.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery slot with no locking tab required.
We bench-tested the pack on a VT1100 base — BMS accepts the cell without negotiation.
After install, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour first charge — Ni-MH cells need slow charging to reach rated capacity on cordless platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech VT1100 / VT2020 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (5M702BMX)

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the V Tech VT1100 and VT2020 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers 5M702BMX, GP0827, GP0845, GP0735, GP0747, and GP0748. When the original pack no longer holds enough charge to sustain a call, this swap restores the handset to full operation.

  • VT1100 and VT2020 fit: Both models share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack format, connector pinout, and physical footprint — 35.40 × 32.50 × 6.70mm. One SKU covers both handsets without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance and discharge cycles on VT1100 hardware. The base station's charge circuit recognised the battery immediately, and the BMS held voltage within spec across the full discharge curve.
  • First-charge procedure for NiMH handsets: After installing this pack, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cordless phone cells require a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — pulling it off early will cut available talk time short.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and require three to five full charge-discharge cycles before reaching rated capacity. The VT1100 base charges at a low trickle rate, so each conditioning cycle takes a full day. Do not judge capacity after the first charge. By cycle four or five, talk time should reach the 600mAh rating.

Base station charge light stays off or shows an error after battery swap

NiMH packs that have sat in storage drop below the voltage threshold the base station's charge circuit expects to see. If the base does not register a charge attempt, remove the handset, wait 30 seconds, and re-seat it firmly. If the light still does not come on, measure the pack voltage — anything below 1.8V total will be rejected by the base until the cells recover slightly. A brief manual boost charge at 100mA for 15 minutes is enough to bring the pack above the acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

The VT1100 handset pairs fine but range drops off badly — could the new battery be causing this?

Yes. NiMH voltage sags under the RF transmit load of a DECT handset, and a freshly installed pack that hasn't been conditioned yet sags more than a broken-in one. The transmit circuit pulls more current than standby draw, and if the pack can't sustain voltage under that load, the radio output dips and range shrinks. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles first — range typically stabilises once the cells reach rated capacity.

My VT1100 lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their base registration when power is fully removed from the handset, because pairing data is held in volatile memory backed by the battery. Re-pairing takes about 60 seconds. Press and hold the page or find button on the base until the handset enters registration mode, then follow the on-screen prompts. Once paired, the handset will reconnect to that base automatically every time it comes in range.

The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. The VT1100 base charges through contact pins on the handset's underside, and if the handset is even slightly off-centre, the circuit stays open and the pack runs on standby draw all night. Remove the handset, wipe the charge contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth, then re-seat it until you hear or feel it click into the cradle. The charge indicator light on the base should illuminate within a few seconds of correct seating.
