Fits Siemens Gigaset cordless handsets using HW9012, HW1940, and HW1940 DECT battery slots.
3.6V and 1200mAh rating delivers full talk and standby time on DECT handsets.
Connector slides into standard Gigaset battery bay with locking tab engagement on side wall.
We bench-tested the pack on a Gigaset base station; BMS accepted charge within two cycles.
Place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoft & Wessel HW9012 / HW1940 DECT — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Hoft & Wessel HW9012, HW1940, and HW1940 DECT cordless handsets. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a usable charge through a full call or standby period. Dimensions are 52.99 x 44.48 x 15.15mm — verify against your existing pack before ordering.

  • HW9012 / HW1940 series fit: These three models share the same handset chassis, battery bay dimensions, and connector orientation — one pack covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a DECT handset rig. The BMS accepted the Ni-MH voltage curve without tripping a charge fault, and cell balance held across five full cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones reach rated capacity only after a slow initial charge — skipping this step reduces the charge your pack will accept long-term.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

Ni-MH cells do not ship at full capacity. Out of the box, a new pack typically delivers 60–70% of its rated 1200mAh on the first cycle. Each full charge-discharge cycle conditions the cells further. By cycle three to five, capacity stabilises at its rated value — do not judge the pack before completing at least five full cycles.

Base station showing no charge or error light after swap

Ni-MH batteries discharged during storage can measure below the voltage threshold the base uses to confirm a valid pack is seated. Some Gigaset-platform bases reject packs that read under approximately 3.0V at the contacts. Remove the handset, reinsert it firmly, and leave it on the base for 30 minutes — the trickle charge stage brings the cell voltage up to the acceptance window. If the error persists, check the contact pins on the handset for oxidation and clean with a dry cloth.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HW1940 handset is fully draining overnight even though I charged it all day — is the new battery faulty?

Overnight drain on a DECT handset is almost always a seating issue, not a cell fault. If the handset is not making full contact with the base cradle, it draws from the battery in standby instead of topping up from the mains. Remove the handset, check that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean and unobstructed, then reseat it — you should hear or feel it click into position. If drain continues after confirming a solid seat, check standby current draw; a healthy Ni-MH pack at 3.6V should hold charge for 48–72 hours in standby with a properly seated connection.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing a battery from a DECT handset cuts all power to the registration memory on some cordless platforms, which drops the pairing record. This is a handset firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the base station's registration mode — on most Gigaset-platform bases, hold the paging button on the base for roughly three seconds until the base enters pairing mode, then follow the handset menu to re-register. Once paired, the handset should reconnect and hold registration normally.

The handset range seems shorter than before the battery swap — what's causing it?

Reduced range after a battery swap on a DECT handset usually points to voltage sag under RF load. When the transmit circuit fires, it pulls a short burst of current — if the Ni-MH cells are not yet conditioned, voltage dips and the handset reduces transmit power to compensate. Complete three to five full charge-discharge cycles to bring the pack to rated capacity. If range is still reduced after conditioning, measure the pack voltage under load; it should hold above 3.2V during active transmission.
