Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panafone KX-T38001 / KX-T9910 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Panafone KX-T38001, KXT9608, KX-T9910, KXT9910DL, and one additional handset in the same series. It replaces the original cell pack directly inside the handset. Capacity figure is from product data — 600mAh, 2.16Wh.
- KX-T38001 and KX-T9910 series compatibility: These handsets share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack format, connector pinout, and physical dimensions (42.60 × 29.95 × 14.54mm). The base station charges through a contact rail that passes voltage directly to the pack — no proprietary BMS handshake is involved, so a correctly rated NiMH pack seats and charges without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the base station charger and monitored terminal voltage across charge and discharge. The cell voltage climbed steadily to the full 3.6V charge plateau. No false full-charge trips were observed during the conditioning phase.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before using it. NiMH cells in cordless phones need that slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting it short on the first cycle reduces the usable capacity you get from the pack long-term.
Base station showing no charge light on a new NiMH pack
Fresh NiMH packs can sit in storage long enough for self-discharge to pull cell voltage below the threshold the base station expects before it starts the charge cycle. The base reads the low voltage as a fault rather than an uncharged cell. Place the handset in the base for at least 30 minutes without moving it — most Panafone base stations will eventually accept the pack once trickle current nudges the terminal voltage above the detection floor. If the charge light still does not appear, check that the handset contacts are clean and the pack is fully pressed into its slot.
Handset not pairing with base after battery replacement
Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset's memory, and some DECT cordless phones store pairing data in volatile memory — the link to the base is lost when power drops to zero. This is not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the pairing or registration button on the base station, following the sequence in the handset manual. On most Panafone models this means holding the base station's PAGE or FIND button for five seconds while the handset is powered on and within one metre of the base.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KX-T38001 talk time is noticeably shorter than the old battery for the first few days — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. NiMH cells in cordless handsets need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity — 600mAh is the figure after conditioning, not on day one. Each time you run the handset down and return it to the base for a full charge, capacity steps up. After the fifth cycle, talk time should stabilise at the rated level.
The handset loses range near the edges of the house right after the battery swap — it was fine before.
Range drops when the NiMH pack cannot hold voltage steady under the RF transmit load. A new or freshly installed NiMH cell that has not yet been conditioned will sag in voltage more than a fully cycled pack under the same current draw. Run two or three full charge cycles and the voltage sag under transmit load will decrease. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the handset contacts are free of residue — a resistive connection causes the same sag symptom.
The handset battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — why?
This is a seating issue, not a battery defect. If the handset is not fully pressed into the base cradle, the charge contacts do not make a reliable connection and the base never delivers current to the pack. The handset then runs entirely on its own charge through standby draw. Lift the handset out, reseat it firmly until you feel it click or settle flush, and confirm the charge indicator light appears on the base. Check the contact pins on the handset for dirt or oxidation — clean them with a dry cloth and reseat.
