Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pure StreamR Splash — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650E)

This is a 3.7V, 6700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Pure StreamR Splash portable DAB digital radio. It fits the INR18650E cell format used in the original unit. Install it when the existing battery no longer holds a useful charge or fails to power the radio at all.

  • StreamR Splash platform fit: The StreamR Splash uses a single INR18650E-format cell at 3.7V nominal. The battery management circuit in the radio expects this voltage rail and cell geometry — swapping any other cell format will not seat or communicate correctly with the onboard BMS.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the StreamR Splash's charge and discharge circuit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, balanced charge terminated cleanly at 4.2V, and low-voltage cutoff triggered at the expected threshold without dropping the radio mid-use.
  • Station memory after power interruption: After fitting this battery, run a full automatic DAB scan before tuning manually. The StreamR Splash stores its station list in volatile memory — a complete power loss clears it. A fresh auto-scan rebuilds the full station index for your region.

Radio cutting out mid-station at low battery

The DAB decoder inside the StreamR Splash needs a stable, consistent voltage to sustain the audio stream. When cell voltage sags below roughly 3.4V under load, the decoder can lose sync with the multiplex signal and drop the stream entirely — even if the battery indicator still shows a bar or two. This is not a tuner fault. It is the cell failing to deliver enough current to keep the digital decode process running. Recharging the battery fully to 4.2V resolves the cutouts.

Reception noticeably weaker in areas where the old battery performed fine

The StreamR Splash's RF front end draws more power when DAB signal strength is marginal — the radio increases its search and lock effort to maintain a stable multiplex lock. A degraded or partially charged cell cannot sustain the voltage needed for full RF output, so reception appears worse than it actually should be at that location. This creates a feedback loop: weak signal demands more power, low cell voltage reduces RF performance further. Charge the replacement cell fully before testing reception in fringe areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pure StreamR Splash lost all its saved stations after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The StreamR Splash stores its station list in volatile memory that clears completely when power is interrupted. This happens with any battery swap, not just a failing cell. Go to the radio's menu and run a full automatic DAB scan — the radio will rebuild the station index from the local multiplex signal. Manual tuning before the scan completes will not restore stations that haven't been re-detected yet.

The StreamR Splash cuts out mid-broadcast even though the battery indicator doesn't look low — what's happening?

The DAB audio decoder requires a stable voltage to maintain multiplex sync. When the cell voltage sags under load — typically below 3.4V — the decoder loses the stream and the radio cuts out, even if the battery gauge still shows charge remaining. The gauge reads resting voltage, not load voltage. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V and test again; if cutouts continue at full charge, the cell has degraded and needs replacement.

My StreamR Splash gets noticeably worse DAB reception in some spots since replacing the battery — why?

In weak signal areas, the radio's RF front end draws significantly more current to lock onto the multiplex signal. If the replacement cell isn't fully charged, voltage sags under that extra RF load and the radio can't sustain the power needed for a clean signal lock. This makes marginal reception areas appear worse than they were with the original battery at full health. Charge the new cell completely to 4.2V before testing reception in those locations.
