Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Autel DS808 / IM508 / MK808K-BT Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MLP5070111)
This 3.7V, 4250mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original MLP5070111 battery in Autel handheld diagnostic scanners. It fits the DS808, DS808K, IM508, MaxiCOM MK808K-BT, and 19 additional models in the same platform family. Dimensions are 103.50 × 69.50 × 4.00mm — match these against the cell you pull before ordering.
- DS808 / IM508 / MK808K-BT platform fit: These models share the same PCB layout, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The MLP5070111 part number spans all of them because Autel standardised the power rail across this scanner generation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the DS808 platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve without error flags, and the scanner completed a full OBD vehicle scan without voltage sag triggering a shutdown.
- Data export before swap: Export all saved vehicle profiles and diagnostic logs before removing the old battery. On Autel scanners in this series, vehicle data can be stored in RAM segments kept alive by the main battery — pulling the cell without exporting first risks losing that data permanently.
Why the DS808 won't boot after a battery swap
A freshly installed cell ships at storage charge — typically 30–50% state of charge. The DS808 boot sequence draws a short high-current pulse that a partially depleted cell can fail to sustain, causing the device to cut out immediately or not respond to the power button at all. This is a voltage threshold issue, not a fault with the battery or the scanner. Charge the replacement cell to full via the wall adapter before attempting to power on — the scanner's BMS will begin accepting charge even with the device off.
Wireless link dropping mid-diagnostic session
The DS808 uses a shared power rail for both the display and the wireless module. As the battery ages and internal resistance rises, voltage sag under combined screen-plus-wireless load can push the rail below the threshold the wireless module needs to stay connected. This appears as a dropped VCI link or Bluetooth disconnect — often while the battery indicator still shows 20–30%. Replacing the cell resolves the sag. After fitting the new battery, run a full charge cycle before your first live vehicle session to let the BMS calibrate the state-of-charge reading accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DS808 shows a solid 20% battery but the VCI link keeps dropping mid-scan — is the new battery faulty?
The wireless module on the DS808 is sensitive to voltage sag, not just charge level. An aged cell with high internal resistance can show 20% on the gauge while the rail dips low enough under combined screen and wireless load to drop the VCI connection. A new MLP5070111 cell eliminates that sag. Run a full charge cycle on the replacement before your first session so the BMS can set an accurate baseline — the dropout should stop.
I swapped the battery and all my saved vehicle profiles are gone — can I recover them?
On this scanner series, portions of vehicle profile and session data can live in RAM segments that rely on the main battery for power. Once the cell is removed, that data clears. Recovery after the fact isn't possible through a battery swap alone — the data is gone from volatile storage. Before your next swap, go to the scanner's Data Manager, export all vehicle profiles and logs to a USB drive or the Autel cloud link, then pull the battery.
The DS808 screen dims and the scanner restarts by itself even with the battery showing 40% — what's causing it?
The display driver on the DS808 is voltage-sensitive, and the on-screen percentage is calculated, not directly measured — an aged cell can report 40% while actual terminal voltage is already near the low-voltage cutoff. The BMS then triggers a protective restart to prevent cell damage. Pull the battery and check resting voltage with a multimeter: a healthy 3.7V LiPo at 40% should read between 3.75V and 3.85V. Anything below 3.6V at rest confirms the cell is degraded and needs replacement.
