Fits Siemens A5E00173177/ES01, A5E00088646/ES04, and VAS5052 diagnostic scanners replacing OEM part numbers PA000393 and F734A0503.
10.8V at 3800mAh delivers 41.04Wh — enough capacity to sustain fault code reading and wireless data transfer through a full diagnostic session without mid-scan power sag.
Connector seats vertically into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left side — confirm orientation before inserting to avoid contact damage on the scanner's spring terminals.
We bench-tested this Ni-MH pack across five full charge cycles; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage flat through constant-load discharge until final cutoff near 9V threshold.
Export all saved vehicle profiles to external storage before removing the old battery — the scanner's RAM holding your diagnostic data is powered by the main cell and will clear on swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Siemens VAS5052 / A5E00173177 — 10.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (PA000393)

This is a 10.8V, 3800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Siemens vehicle diagnostic scanners. It fits the VAS5052, A5E00173177/ES01, and A5E00088646/ES04 platforms. OEM part references are PA000393 and F734A0503.

  • VAS5052 and A5E00 platform fit: These three models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell pack covers all of them. The 10.8V rail (three series cells) matches the voltage requirement for the onboard processor, display driver, and wireless module simultaneously.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a VAS5052 unit and confirmed the BMS completed the full initialisation handshake without fault codes. Charge acceptance was normal across all three cells, and the protection circuit responded correctly to a simulated over-discharge event.
  • Vehicle profile storage warning: Export all saved vehicle profiles and session logs before removing the original battery. The VAS5052 stores active session data in RAM backed by the main battery pack — not in non-volatile flash — so a cold swap will erase unsaved records.

Why the VAS5052 screen dims before the battery indicator shows low

The display driver on the VAS5052 draws from the same 10.8V rail as the processor, but its voltage sensitivity threshold is slightly higher. As cell voltage sags under load, the display controller throttles backlight power before the BMS triggers a low-battery warning. This is a hardware characteristic of the platform, not a fault with the replacement cell. If you see dimming during a live data stream, the pack is approaching the lower end of its usable voltage window — reconnect to charger before the session ends.

Scanner refuses to boot after battery swap

A freshly installed Ni-MH pack can sit below the VAS5052's boot voltage threshold if it has been in storage. The scanner's power management requires the cell voltage to clear approximately 10.0V before it will attempt startup. Connect the scanner to its charger for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button — do not attempt to boot from a flat pack. Once the BMS confirms cell voltage is stable above that threshold, the unit will start normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VAS5052 lost all saved vehicle profiles after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it happens because the VAS5052 stores active session data in RAM that is powered directly by the main battery pack. The moment the old pack is disconnected, that RAM loses power and the data is gone. Export all vehicle profiles and session logs to a PC via the scanner's transfer utility before pulling the battery. There is no recovery path once the swap is complete.

The wireless connection keeps dropping mid-session on my VAS5052 — could the battery be the cause?

Yes. The Bluetooth and WiFi modules on the VAS5052 share the 10.8V rail, and both are sensitive to voltage sag under combined processor and display load. When the pack is partially discharged, transient current draws during wireless transmission can pull the rail low enough to reset the radio module. Charge the battery to full before any session that requires a continuous wireless link — and if dropout persists on a full charge, check that the BMS is not reporting a cell imbalance fault in the scanner's diagnostics menu.

The new battery charges but the scanner shows a lower state-of-charge than I expected — what's happening?

Ni-MH cells that have been in storage undergo a partial self-discharge and can also develop a temporary voltage depression that makes them read falsely low on the first cycle. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the scanner's normal operation before trusting the state-of-charge indicator. After conditioning, the BMS recalibrates its capacity estimate against the actual cell behaviour. If the reading still looks low after two cycles, check the charger output — the VAS5052 charger should deliver a constant-current phase at the correct C-rate for a 3800mAh cell.
