This is a 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the VDO Autodiagnos Check Plug & Play Service Tool. It fits the VDO100 diagnostic scanner used by automotive technicians to read fault codes and run vehicle system checks. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.
- VDO Autodiagnos Check compatibility: The VDO100 scanner runs a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a BMS that validates cell voltage on boot. A cell below the boot threshold will prevent the unit from powering on entirely — not just show a low-battery indicator. This replacement cell meets that threshold requirement.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge-discharge cycles on this cell using the VDO100's native charging circuit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, completed a full charge cycle, and held voltage within expected limits across the discharge curve.

VDO100 scanner not powering on after battery swap
A freshly installed cell often sits below the scanner's boot voltage threshold after shipping and storage. The VDO100's BMS will refuse to initialise if the cell voltage is too low, and the unit shows no response at all — no screen, no LED. Connect the scanner to its charger for at least 30 minutes before pressing power. The cell needs to reach approximately 3.4V before the BMS will allow a boot sequence.
Wireless connection dropping mid-diagnostic session
The VDO100 uses a wireless link to communicate scan data, and that radio draws a short burst of current every time it transmits. When the battery is partially discharged, voltage sags during those transmit bursts and the radio drops the connection. This often happens before the battery indicator shows critical — the display and processor stay alive, but the radio loses power margin. If sessions are dropping repeatedly, charge the battery to full before starting a diagnostic run.

Most likely not. The VDO100 holds active diagnostic data in RAM that draws power directly from the main battery — remove the cell and that memory clears immediately. There is no secondary coin cell or capacitor backup in this unit to preserve it. Going forward, use the scanner's export function to save vehicle profiles to an external device before pulling the battery.
The screen on my VDO100 dims and flickers before the battery indicator shows low — what's happening?
The display driver in the VDO100 is voltage-sensitive and will throttle backlight power before the BMS formally flags a low-battery state. This means the screen starts dimming at a cell voltage that the battery meter still reads as acceptable. It is an early warning that the cell is losing capacity. If dimming starts much sooner than it used to after a full charge, the replacement cell may need a full conditioning cycle — charge to 100%, allow it to discharge through normal use, then charge fully again.
