Fits ONELUX NCD24SS emergency exit lights; replaces OEM Ni-MH battery packs in ceiling fixtures and wall-mount fittings.
2.4V, 8000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained discharge across the full test cycle without voltage sag during emergency activation.
Slide-in connector seats flush into the NCD24SS battery compartment with positive terminal forward; tab locks into the side groove.
We bench-tested this cell through five full discharge cycles on the NCD24SS platform; the BMS charger accepted the pack without fault codes and held float voltage across 24 hours.
Run the manual test button on the fitting for the full rated duration within 24 hours of installation — this confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new capacity before your next compliance test.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ONELUX NCD24SS — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 2.4V, 8000mAh Ni-MH replacement cell for the ONELUX NCD24SS emergency lighting unit. It fits emergency exit signs, ceiling-mounted emergency lights, and backup lighting fixtures used in commercial and residential buildings. Swap it in when the original cell can no longer hold a charge or fails a timed duration test.

  • NCD24SS cell compatibility: The NCD24SS charge controller runs a fixed 2.4V float rail. This cell matches that voltage and the physical footprint — 121.10 x 33.65 x 33.00mm — so the charge circuit operates within its acceptance window without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and a mains-failure simulation. The charge controller accepted the new cell, transitioned from charge to float, and the fitting activated cleanly on simulated mains loss.
  • First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new capacity before your next scheduled compliance test.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell is not at full capacity — it ships in a partial state of charge from storage. The charge controller needs one complete charge cycle, typically 24 hours on mains, before the cell reaches rated capacity. Running a duration test too soon will result in the light cutting out before the test period ends, even though the cell itself is not faulty. Allow a full 24-hour charge, then perform the test.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

Some NCD24SS fittings require the replacement cell to enter the float acceptance window before the charge LED shifts from red to green. A cell that has sat in storage may present a resting voltage slightly outside that window, causing the controller to hold in fast-charge mode longer than expected. This is normal behaviour — leave the fitting on mains power for a full charge cycle. If the LED has not shifted to green within 24 hours, check the cell connections and confirm the terminal voltage reads at least 2.4V with a multimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions

My emergency light cuts out halfway through the duration test — is the new battery faulty?

Probably not. A Ni-MH cell ships in partial charge from storage, so it cannot deliver its full 8000mAh capacity on the first test. The fix is to leave the fitting on mains power for a full 24 hours before running any duration test. After one complete charge cycle, the cell reaches rated capacity and the duration test should pass.

The fitting still shows a fault LED after I installed the new cell and confirmed all connections are solid — what's wrong?

On many emergency light fittings, the fault LED latches in hardware and does not clear automatically when a new cell is installed. The controller needs a manual reset — this is usually done by pressing and holding the test button for three to five seconds while the fitting is on mains power. Check the NCD24SS fitting label or backplate for the reset sequence specific to your unit.

The light dims noticeably after the first few minutes of a test — charge indicator was already showing green before I started.

Dimming under load early in the test points to a cell that completed its charge cycle but has not yet conditioned through a full discharge. Ni-MH cells can show a voltage dip on the first deep discharge after a long period in storage. Run one complete test cycle to full discharge, then return the fitting to mains for 24 hours. The second test should show consistent output through the full duration.
