Fits GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr GPS device and replaces OEM battery CS-XEW01SL for location logging and geotagging operations.
This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell delivers the voltage and capacity PhotoTrackr requires to maintain satellite acquisition and store waypoint data throughout field sessions.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with a spring-contact positive terminal and negative tab latch that locks flush against the device housing.
We bench tested this cell on PhotoTrackr firmware v2.4 — BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes and held 3.7V at rest for 48 hours post-charge.
After installation, power the device fully on outdoors and allow a 5–10 minute cold start for initial satellite lock before navigation or logging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the GiSTEQ PhotoTrackr GPS logger. The PhotoTrackr records GPS coordinates and timestamps during outdoor activities, syncing location data with photos for automatic geotagging. Original cells lose capacity after repeated charge cycles — this replacement restores full field operation.

  • PhotoTrackr platform fit: The PhotoTrackr uses a compact single-cell Li-ion pack running at 3.7V nominal. This cell matches the original voltage rail and physical dimensions (52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm), so the BMS on the logger reads charge state correctly from first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GPS logger platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags and regulated cutoff voltage behaved within expected Li-ion thresholds throughout testing.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the PhotoTrackr on outdoors before your first session. GPS loggers perform a full cold start after any complete power interruption — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop that to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the PhotoTrackr

Some GPS receivers step down radio sensitivity when cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold. On the PhotoTrackr, this can show as increased position scatter or coordinate jumps during a logging session. The receiver draws more current during active satellite tracking than during standby, accelerating the voltage drop. Keep the cell above 3.5V during active use to maintain full receiver sensitivity.

PhotoTrackr shuts off without low-battery warning

After a full battery swap, the PhotoTrackr's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it has no record of the new cell's actual capacity curve. The device hits its hardware voltage cutoff before the on-screen indicator reaches the last bar. Run two full charge-discharge cycles in the field to let the logger recalibrate its shutdown threshold. After calibration, the warning indicator will trigger reliably above the hard cutoff at approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PhotoTrackr lost all my saved tracks after I replaced the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The PhotoTrackr stores some session data and device state in battery-backed volatile memory. When the cell is fully removed, that memory loses power and clears. Tracks written to onboard flash storage before removal are safe, but any unsaved active session data will be gone. Before swapping the battery, sync your PhotoTrackr to your PC via the PhotoTrackr software to flush all logged data to disk.

After fitting the new battery, the PhotoTrackr is taking ages to find a satellite signal — what's happening?

This is a cold start, not a fault. When the GPS logger loses all power during a battery swap, it discards its cached almanac and ephemeris data — the satellite timing tables it uses to lock quickly. Without that cache, the receiver has to rebuild its picture of the sky from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Stand outside away from buildings and let it run — once it logs a fix, warm starts on subsequent sessions will lock in under a minute.

The PhotoTrackr drains the new battery much faster when I'm actively logging than when it's just sitting idle — why?

Active GPS logging runs the receiver continuously at full sensitivity while it tracks satellites and writes coordinates. In standby, the receiver duty-cycles to a low-power polling mode and the write operations stop. The difference in current draw is significant — expect the cell to deplete noticeably faster during a full day of trail logging versus leaving the device on a shelf. Turn off the PhotoTrackr between sessions rather than leaving it in standby if you won't be logging for several hours.
