Fits Royal Digital BS4100 BT GPS navigator, replaces OEM part number HXE-W01.
3.7V lithium-ion cell delivers 1000mAh capacity for full-day navigation on handheld GPS units.
Connector type and orientation match original housing; battery sits flush in the compartment without modification.
We bench-tested this cell in the BS4100 platform — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with clean voltage handshake.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before route navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under a minute on warm restarts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Royal Digital BS4100 BT GPS — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HXE-W01)

This 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM HXE-W01 battery in the Royal Digital BS4100 BT GPS navigator. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same BMS interface the unit expects. Voltage and capacity match the stock specification exactly.

  • BS4100 BT GPS platform fit: The BS4100 BT GPS combines a live GPS receiver with a Bluetooth radio, both drawing from this single cell. The HXE-W01 footprint — 52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm — is specific to this unit. No modification to the bay or connector is required.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge under combined GPS-receiver and Bluetooth radio load. The BMS held the cutoff threshold correctly and did not trip prematurely during the radio-active phase of the test.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors before first use. The GPS performs a cold start following any full power interruption — first satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Subsequent warm starts resolve in under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the BS4100

Some GPS receivers scale back radio-frequency sensitivity when cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold — the BS4100 exhibits this behaviour. The unit prioritises self-preservation over receiver gain, which narrows the number of satellites it can lock. Position error increases noticeably below roughly 3.5V. Keeping the cell above that threshold by charging before extended use prevents the sensitivity reduction.

Device shuts off without visual low-battery warning

After a full battery swap, the BS4100's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it has no charge history to reference. The on-screen indicator may show two or three bars right up to the point the cell hits the BMS cutoff voltage. This is not a fault with the replacement cell; it is the gauge working from stale internal data. Run one complete charge-to-cutoff cycle and the indicator will re-calibrate to the new cell's actual capacity curve. Target a full charge to 4.2V before that first cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BS4100 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The BS4100 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power interruption wipes that volatile memory. The internal flash holds maps and firmware, but user-saved routes written to RAM are lost when the cell is removed. Before any battery swap, export saved routes to a PC via the device's file-transfer mode — reconnect via USB after the swap and copy them back.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the replacement cell — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The GPS receiver lost its almanac data — the satellite position tables it keeps in memory — when the cell was removed. Without that data it has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Take the unit outside, leave it stationary, and let it complete the cold start before moving. Every subsequent power-on will lock in under a minute once the almanac is cached to flash.

Active navigation drains the BS4100 battery much faster than just leaving it on standby — why?

In active navigation the GPS receiver runs at full polling rate while the display stays lit at near-maximum brightness. Those two loads together draw significantly more current than standby, where the display dims and satellite polling slows. There is no fault here — it is the expected current draw difference between the two operating states. Lower display brightness in the settings menu to reduce total draw during long navigation sessions.
