Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Labnet Biopette Plus 100-1000mL — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P3942-1000)
This 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the Labnet Biopette Plus 100-1000mL electronic pipette. It powers the motorized aspiration and dispensing mechanism that the pipette relies on for accurate liquid handling. Capacity matches the original P3942-1000 specification from product data.
- Biopette Plus 100-1000mL fit: The Biopette Plus range shares a single battery bay across its volume variants, with a common connector pinout and BMS handshake tied to cell chemistry rather than capacity range. This cell matches the 3.7V nominal rail the motor controller expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, idle, and full aspiration cycles on the Biopette Plus platform. The BMS accepted the cell without a chemistry mismatch flag and completed charge termination at the correct cutoff voltage.
- Power-on self-test after installation: Allow the device to complete its startup self-test without interruption after fitting this cell. The Biopette Plus runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power mid-sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.
Low battery alarm immediately after a confirmed full charge on a new cell
The Biopette Plus BMS compares the cell's state-of-charge curve against an internal threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's charge history. A brand-new cell with no cycles logged has no stored curve, so the BMS defaults to conservative voltage thresholds and can trigger a low-battery alarm even when the cell is fully charged. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle allows the BMS to map the new cell's actual capacity and clear the false alarm. After that first full cycle, the alarm threshold tracks correctly and the indicator reads accurately.
Device shutting off unexpectedly during aspiration in the first few uses
Electronic pipettes apply a short, sharp current draw during motor start — the aspiration stroke demands more current than steady-state dispensing. New Li-ion cells have slightly elevated internal resistance before the first few cycles soften the electrode structure, which causes a momentary voltage dip that the BMS reads as undervoltage and responds to with a protective cutoff. This is not a faulty cell. Run five to ten full aspiration cycles before clinical use to condition the cell and reduce that internal resistance. After conditioning, the voltage dip during motor start stays above the BMS cutoff threshold — typically above 3.0V under load for a healthy 3.7V nominal cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Biopette Plus shows a low battery warning right after I installed and fully charged the new cell — is the battery faulty?
This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The pipette's BMS compares the cell's charge curve against stored data from the previous cell — a new cell with zero cycles has no curve on record, so the BMS defaults to its lowest confidence threshold and throws the alarm. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle without interruption and the BMS will map the new cell's actual capacity. After that cycle, the alarm clears and the indicator reads correctly.
My Biopette Plus won't power on at all after the replacement cell sat unused in storage for several months — what's happened?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage drops below roughly 2.5V the BMS locks out to prevent damage, blocking the power-on sequence entirely. Place the battery in the pipette, connect the charger, and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle — the charge IC applies a low-current pre-charge phase to recover cells below the BMS wake threshold before stepping up to normal charge current. If the charger indicator progresses from pre-charge to full charge within a few hours, the cell has recovered and the device will power on normally.
The charge indicator on the Biopette Plus stopped at around 80–90% and won't reach 100% on the first charge — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The charge IC applies a conservative current limit on the first charge of a new cell, which extends the final absorption phase significantly — the indicator can appear stuck well below 100% for an extended period. Leave the device on charge until the indicator completes; do not interrupt the charge. On the second and subsequent charges the IC uses the data from the first cycle to set a more accurate termination point, and the indicator will reach 100% in the expected time.
