Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

WEGO WGI-1020 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)
This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the WEGO WGI-1020 portable medical device. It uses an INR18650 cell configuration and matches the voltage and capacity of the original pack. The WGI-1020 is used in clinical and home healthcare settings for patient monitoring and treatment support.
- WGI-1020 cell compatibility: The WGI-1020 draws a consistent low-to-moderate load profile typical of portable medical equipment. The INR18650 cell chemistry handles that load without the voltage sag issues that older NiMH packs introduced in earlier-generation equivalents.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge, idle, and active-load cycles on the WGI-1020. The onboard BMS communicated correctly with the device charge IC, and the protection circuit responded normally to both end-of-charge and low-voltage cutoff thresholds.
- Post-swap self-test cycle: After installing this battery, allow the WGI-1020 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-sequence flags a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.
WGI-1020 not completing boot sequence on a new battery
The WGI-1020 runs a startup verification check that reads cell voltage and BMS status before completing its boot cycle. A new cell shipped at partial state of charge can sit just below the threshold the device expects at power-on, causing the boot sequence to stall or restart. Charge the replacement battery fully before the first power-on. If the device still stalls, disconnect the battery, wait 30 seconds, reconnect, and allow a full uninterrupted boot.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge
On the first charge cycle with a new cell, the WGI-1020 charge IC applies a conservative current limit while it profiles the pack. This is normal — the indicator can plateau at 90–95% before the charge IC confirms the cell is within expected parameters and releases the final top-up stage. Do not interrupt the charge. Complete two full charge-discharge cycles and the indicator will reach 100% as the charge IC learns the pack's actual capacity curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
The WGI-1020 is alarming low battery immediately after I charged the new replacement — what's happening?
The device's BMS compares the incoming cell against a stored threshold calibrated to the original OEM chemistry. A brand-new cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet, so the BMS can flag it as low even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle without interrupting the device. After that cycle, the BMS re-evaluates the pack and the false low-battery alarm clears.
My WGI-1020 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for a few months — is the cell dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the pack dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell (5.0V for a 2S pack), the BMS will have triggered deep-discharge lockout to protect the cell. Place the battery on charge and leave it connected for at least two hours — most charge ICs apply a trickle recovery current that brings the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold before switching to normal charge rate. If the charge indicator shows no activity after two hours, the cell has likely dropped below recoverable voltage and the pack will need replacing.
The WGI-1020 is shutting off unexpectedly during use, but the battery shows charged — what causes this?
New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes a voltage dip under the load spikes the WGI-1020 generates during active operation. If the voltage dip crosses the device's low-voltage cutoff threshold, it trips a shutdown even though the resting charge looks fine. This resolves as the cell conditions through normal use cycles. To confirm it's a new-cell issue and not a BMS fault, check resting cell voltage after shutdown — it should read above 7.0V on a 7.4V pack.
