Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Neffos X1 / TP902C — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (NBL-38A2250)

This is a 3.85V, 2150mAh (8.28Wh) Li-Polymer cell that replaces the original NBL-38A2250 in the Neffos X1, X1 Dual SIM, and TP902C smartphones. It restores full electrical capacity to the mainboard, display, modem, and application processor. Physical dimensions are 64.00 × 56.20 × 3.40mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • X1, X1 Dual SIM, and TP902C compatibility: All three share the same chassis footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell covers the full range. The Dual SIM variant draws slightly higher standby current on the second modem, but the voltage rail and BMS communication remain identical.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence on the TP902C. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake on the first cycle, voltage held steady under simultaneous screen and LTE load, and no cutoff events were triggered during the test.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one slow cycle lets it remap against the new cell before high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Neffos X1 after a cell swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC's stored discharge curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity profile. The phone's SoC calculates remaining charge from a coulomb counter calibrated to the old cell. When the new cell's open-circuit voltage drops faster than the model predicts — typically around 3.65–3.70V under modem or display load — the protection circuit interprets it as a hard undervoltage event and shuts down immediately. Running one full discharge to ~3.0V and a complete charge cycle forces the fuel gauge IC to resample the new curve. After that cycle, the reported percentage tracks the actual cell state correctly.

Phone warm near the battery area on the first few charges after replacement

A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a cell that has completed its initial formation cycles. The charge IC compensates by pushing a higher voltage differential across that impedance, which produces more heat than normal during the first two or three charge sessions. This is not a fault — it resolves as the cell completes formation cycling. If the phone feels hot to the touch rather than warm, stop the charge, let it cool to room temperature, and check that the connector is fully seated before resuming.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Neffos X1 shuts off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped to your old, degraded battery. When the new cell's voltage drops through the 3.65–3.70V range under screen or LTE load, the IC misreads it as a critical undervoltage and triggers a shutdown. Run one full discharge — let the phone power off on its own — then charge to 100% without interruption at standard (non-fast) charge speed. That single cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap against the new cell, and the erratic shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage is jumping around erratically — shows 60%, then drops to 41%, then climbs back up without charging.

The coulomb counter inside the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating after the cell swap. It lost its reference point when the old cell was removed, and it is now estimating state-of-charge from incomplete data. The jumps narrow after each charge cycle as the IC gathers new voltage-versus-capacity samples. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles at standard charge current — do not interrupt them — and the percentage readout will stabilise. If it is still jumping after three full cycles, reseat the battery connector and confirm there is no intermittent contact at the flex cable.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Neffos X1 — it only trickle charges now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC defaults to a low-current pre-charge mode because it cannot immediately verify cell condition from the new BMS. The USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake only re-enables once the IC confirms the cell is above the recovery threshold — typically around 3.0V. Plug in the phone and leave it charging at the slow rate until the percentage reaches at least 20%, then unplug and replug the cable. The fast-charge protocol should re-negotiate at that point. If it does not, confirm the charger and cable are original or rated for the correct voltage and current output.
