Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE Z965 / Blade X — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Li3930T44P6h816437)

This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh (11.55Wh) lithium-polymer cell that fits the ZTE Z965 and ZTE Blade X smartphones. It replaces OEM part number Li3930T44P6h816437 and matches the original connector, dimensions, and BMS handshake. The cell measures 79.30 × 63.18 × 3.45mm — check clearance before installing if your unit has third-party adhesive residue from a previous swap.

  • Z965 and Blade X shared platform: Both devices run on the same voltage rail and use the same connector pinout, so they share this cell. The BMS on each model negotiates charge termination the same way — no firmware conflict between variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Z965 platform. The BMS accepted the full 3000mAh rated capacity, held charge termination correctly at 4.35V, and did not trip low-voltage cutoff during a simulated modem and display load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Z965 after a cell swap

The Z965's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve from the original cell. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the IC miscalculates remaining capacity. Under modem load — during a call or LTE data burst — the cell voltage sags below the shutdown threshold before the percentage reaches zero. The phone cuts out even though the display showed charge remaining. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and maps the new cell's actual voltage cliff, usually sitting around 3.4–3.5V under load.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

On the first charge after installation, the charge IC on the Z965 may default to standard 5V/1A input and not negotiate the higher voltage profile. This happens because the BMS on a new cell starts with conservative thresholds until it confirms cell temperature and impedance are within range. Plug the phone in for a full uninterrupted charge at standard rate — do not disconnect mid-cycle. On the second charge, the IC typically resumes fast charge negotiation once the BMS has cleared its first-cycle validation check at 4.35V termination.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ZTE Z965 keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell defective?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The Z965's fuel gauge IC is still reading the discharge curve from the old cell, so it miscalculates the voltage cliff on the new one. Under modem or screen load, the cell voltage drops below the shutdown threshold before the percentage hits zero. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging — that single cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter to the new cell.

The battery percentage on my Z965 is jumping around erratically after the swap — it went from 60% to 34% in two minutes without me doing anything.

That's the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against an unfamiliar cell. The IC tracks charge state using a stored reference curve; a new Li-Polymer cell with different internal resistance throws off its estimates until it has real cycle data. The jumps get smaller after each discharge-charge cycle. Complete two full uninterrupted cycles — discharge to shutdown, charge to 100% — and percentage reporting should stabilise by the third cycle.

My Z965 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell during storage, the BMS trips a deep-discharge lockout to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will push a low-current trickle into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-initialisation threshold, after which normal charging resumes and the phone will power on.
