One full discharge-charge cycle without interruption lets the coulomb counter re-anchor to the new cell's actual voltage cliff, typically around 3.4–3.5V under load.

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the BST1089SEB cell dropped below approximately 2.5V before installation, the BMS enters a protective lockout state and the phone will not power on. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically 2.8–3.0V, before normal charging resumes.

The SPH-i330 feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — should I stop charging?

Mild warmth on the first few charge cycles is expected. A new high-impedance cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat while it works through the initial cycles. As long as the phone is not too hot to hold comfortably, continue charging normally. If heat persists beyond the third full cycle, check that the battery contacts are seated flat against the cell terminals with no debris underneath.

The battery percentage on my SPH-i330 jumps erratically — it reads 60%, then drops to 30% within minutes without heavy use.
