Fits Apple A2941 MacBook models; replaces OEM battery part number A2797.
This 11.54V 5500mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full charge capacity to MacBook laptops that show degraded battery health or won't hold a charge.
Connector type is proprietary Apple; battery slides into the chassis slot with a single retention clip — no tools required for installation.
We bench-tested this cell on a MacBook A2941 chassis; the BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes and held voltage stability under sustained CPU and display load.
After installation, run one full discharge to sleep cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple A2941 MacBook — 11.54V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2797)

This is an 11.54V, 5500mAh (63.47Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Apple MacBook using OEM part number A2797. It fits the A2941 chassis, including MQKP3LL/A, MQKQ3LL/A, MQKR3LL/A, and 23 additional configurations. Install it when the original cell has degraded and the machine no longer holds a usable charge away from AC power.

  • A2941 chassis compatibility: All listed A2941 models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The A2797 cell fits this physical and electrical spec — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full load discharge, and BMS cutoff on A2941 hardware. The BMS handshake completed correctly on first connection, and charge current stepped down as expected near full capacity.
  • Post-install discharge cycle: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears on the first boot after any cell swap.

Why macOS reports poor battery health immediately after fitting a new A2797 cell

The health rating in System Information pulls from EEPROM data written by the old cell — not from the new one. Until the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the replacement chemistry, macOS has no accurate baseline and flags the battery as degraded. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Run two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles and the health reading will update to reflect actual cell capacity.

MacBook shutting down at 20–30% shown on the menu bar gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC's state-of-charge map no longer matches the actual voltage curve of the cell — common in the first few cycles after a swap. Under combined CPU and display load, voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge predicts, triggering a low-voltage shutdown before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is not a cell fault. Force a full discharge to hibernate, charge to 100% without interruption, and repeat once more. After two calibration cycles the gauge tracks the voltage curve accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

macOS is showing my new battery's capacity as the wrong Wh — it says 55Wh but the cell is rated 63.47Wh. Is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure macOS displays in System Information is read from the EEPROM on the battery controller, and on a new replacement cell that value may not yet match the rated chemistry capacity. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles. After calibration the reported Wh will align with the actual 63.47Wh rating of the A2797 cell.

The fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes of unplugging. What's causing that?

The fuel gauge IC uses a stored charge map to estimate state-of-charge, and after a cell swap that map is built from the old battery's data. With no accurate baseline for the new A2797 chemistry, the IC interpolates poorly and the percentage swings under load. This is not a wiring or connection fault. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% and the IC will rewrite its map against the actual new cell — the erratic readings will stop.

My replacement battery is only charging to 80% and stops — macOS says it's fully charged at that point. Is the cell defective?

The cell is not defective. Apple's macOS includes a feature called Optimized Battery Charging, which intentionally holds charge at 80% when the system predicts the MacBook will stay plugged in for an extended period. Go to System Settings → Battery → Battery Health and check whether Optimized Battery Charging is enabled. Turn it off, unplug, and plug back in — the charge will continue to 100%.
