Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Elite x360 1040 G11 — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (ER06068XL)
This 11.55V, 5600mAh (64.68Wh) Li-Polymer battery is a direct cell replacement for the HP Elite x360 1040 G11, EliteBook 1040 G11, and EliteBook x360 1040 G11. It fits the internal battery bay and connects via the original flex cable and BMS harness. OEM part numbers covered include ER06068XL, ER06XL, HSTNN-OB3I, N59734-271, and TPN-DB1T.
- G11 platform fit: The Elite x360 1040 G11 and EliteBook 1040 G11 share the same battery bay dimensions, BMS handshake protocol, and 11.55V nominal voltage rail — one cell fits all three listed models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a G11 chassis and confirmed the BMS handshake completes on first boot. The EEPROM initialises correctly and the HP battery manager reads full capacity without a manual learn cycle trigger.
- First cycle after install: After fitting this cell, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap on G11 hardware.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The HP BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data stored on the battery's BMS board. A new cell ships with fresh EEPROM values that don't yet match the laptop's learned charge history, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the BIOS learn cycle resets and the health warning clears.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge predicts, and the system hits the low-voltage cutoff before the percentage reaches zero. The gauge reads a false floor. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles charging back to 100% each time — after cycle two, the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's curve accurately and the shutdowns stop. Confirm calibration is complete when the gauge reads below 10% without a forced shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP battery manager shows the wrong Wh rating after I installed the new cell — it says something different from the spec sheet. Is the cell actually the right one?
The Wh value displayed by HP battery manager pulls from the EEPROM on the BMS board, which stores the rated chemistry value at manufacture. The actual cell capacity can read slightly differently depending on how the firmware rounds the figure against the 11.55V nominal voltage. This is an EEPROM reporting difference, not a mismatch. Confirm the part number on the cell label matches ER06068XL or ER06XL — if it does, the cell is correct regardless of what the Wh field displays.
My EliteBook 1040 G11 stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the new battery defective?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. HP's battery care settings in BIOS include a charge ceiling that caps at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check BIOS under Power > Battery Care Function and set it to full charge or disable the limit entirely. Once disabled, the cell will charge to 100% — no hardware issue is present.
After swapping the battery, Windows shows 0% or "plugged in, not charging" even with the adapter connected. What's happening?
The BMS handshake between the new cell and the G11 EC (embedded controller) occasionally fails to complete on the first boot, leaving the OS fuel gauge stuck at 0%. Power the laptop off completely, disconnect the AC adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge from the board, then reconnect the adapter and boot. This forces the EC to re-poll the battery BMS and the handshake completes — Windows will then read the correct charge state, typically above 95V on the cell bus at a full charge state.
