Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD64300 — 14.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 14.6V, 2750mAh (40.15Wh) Li-ion battery fits the Medion MD64300 notebook. It replaces the original cell when the laptop no longer holds a charge or fails to power on from battery. Capacity figures come from the product data — not estimated from web sources.

  • MD64300 platform fit: The MD64300 uses a 14.6V four-cell Li-ion configuration. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector pinout, so the BMS handshake completes without triggering an unknown-device error at the firmware level.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS reported correct voltage at each stage, and charge termination triggered at the expected 16.8V ceiling without cutoff errors.
  • First-cycle calibration on the MD64300: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installing a new cell

The MD64300 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers that carry over from the old cell. A fresh cell has no charge history written to those registers, so the firmware flags it as degraded before a single cycle completes. This is a firmware read error, not a fault with the new battery. Run the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge sequence once, and the BIOS rewrites those registers against the new cell's actual data.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load at a point the IC still maps to 20–30% capacity. The laptop interprets that voltage drop as a critical low and cuts power. Run two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate-cutoff, charge to 100% each time — and the fuel gauge IC will remap its curve to the new cell's actual voltage profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows show the battery as 0% or "plugged in, not charging" right after fitting the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the MD64300 is still reading the discharge curve of the old cell. A new cell at full voltage doesn't match the IC's stored profile, so Windows reports an invalid state. Plug the adapter in, let the battery charge uninterrupted to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff. After one complete cycle, the IC recalibrates and the percentage reads correctly.

The system info panel shows the wrong Wh rating after the swap — is the battery faulty?

No. The Wh value displayed in Windows Device Manager or battery reports is pulled from the EEPROM data written by the original cell, not from live measurement. The new cell's EEPROM carries its own rated chemistry data, which may differ from what the old cell had registered. This is a data mismatch between the two cells' stored records. Run the BIOS battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate, full uninterrupted charge — and the system will overwrite the Wh field with the correct figure from the new cell.

Charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — is this a cell fault or a BIOS setting?

On the MD64300, this is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the replacement cell. Medion's power management firmware on some BIOS versions includes a battery-care mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress. Check the BIOS setup utility under power management options and disable the charge limit or set the threshold to 100%. If no such option appears, check Medion's companion software installed under Windows for a battery charge ceiling setting.
