Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sager NP7852(NH55EDQ) / NP6854(NH58RHQ) Series — 14.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.6V, 2750mAh (40.15Wh) Li-ion battery for the Sager NP7852(NH55EDQ), NP7856(NH58RDQ), NP6854(NH58RHQ), NP6856-S, and compatible models in this series. It restores portable operation on notebooks whose original cell has failed or dropped to unusable capacity. Physical dimensions are 142.35 × 54.50 × 20.00mm — confirm these against your existing cell before installing.

  • NP7852 / NP6854 series compatibility: These models share the same 14.6V four-cell architecture and connector pinout. The BMS handshake uses the same EEPROM protocol across the NH55EDQ and NH58RHQ board variants, so the same cell fits both without firmware conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles through a full load sequence. The BMS held within spec at both the low-voltage cutoff and the top-of-charge plateau, with no thermal trip events during the test.
  • First-cycle calibration on Sager laptops: After installing, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installation

The Sager NP7852 BIOS reads EEPROM data embedded in the battery to determine health status. When a new cell arrives, its EEPROM registers zero cycles but the BIOS compares its capacity reading against the previous cell's learned data — this mismatch flags a false "poor health" warning. Running the battery learn cycle (full discharge to hibernate, then uninterrupted charge to 100%) overwrites the cached data. After one to two complete cycles, the health indicator in both the BIOS and Windows battery report should normalise.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on new battery

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a firmware fault. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can update its estimate — the laptop hits the hardware undervoltage protection cutoff before the OS percentage reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC recalibrates its model over two to three full cycles as it maps the actual discharge curve of the new cell. If shutdowns persist past three full cycles, check that Battery Boost or any third-party power management software is not overriding the low-battery threshold — set the critical battery level in Windows power settings to no lower than 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Windows show my Sager NP7852 battery as 0% or "unknown" right after I installed the new cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the NP7852 mainboard still holds the learned discharge model from the old cell. When it reads the new cell for the first time, the data mismatch causes the OS to report 0% or an unknown state. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the IC to build a fresh discharge curve against the new cell. After two complete cycles the percentage reading stabilises.

My Sager NP7852 shows only 32Wh in system info but the replacement battery is rated 40.15Wh — is the cell wrong?

The Wh figure shown in Windows or HWiNFO pulls from the EEPROM "design capacity" field, which the system populates from the old battery's stored data until the learn cycle completes. The cell itself is correct at 40.15Wh. Run the battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge — and the reported Wh value will update to reflect the actual new cell chemistry.

The new battery charges to about 80% and then stops — is there a fault with the cell?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Sager laptops running certain firmware versions enable a battery conservation mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Open the Sager Control Center or the manufacturer's power management utility and look for a "Battery Charge Limit" or "Battery Conservation" toggle — disable it, then reconnect the charger. If no utility is installed, check the BIOS under Advanced Power settings for a charge threshold option and set it to 100%.
