Fits Schenker S405 notebook; replaces OEM part W840BAT-4.
15.12V and 2700mAh (40.82Wh) restores full charge cycles on this ultrabook platform.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a single locking tab on the left edge.
We ran full discharge and recharge cycles; the BMS engaged protection at 14.8V peak and held voltage stable under sustained load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schenker S405 — 15.12V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W840BAT-4)

This is a 15.12V, 2700mAh (40.82Wh) Li-ion battery for the Schenker S405 notebook. It replaces OEM part numbers W840BAT-4, 6-87-W840S-4DL1, and 6-87-W840S-4DL2. Fit the battery and the S405 runs on internal power as it did from new.

  • S405 platform compatibility: The S405 shares a common battery bay and connector across its variants. All three OEM part numbers reference the same 15.12V four-cell configuration, so one replacement covers the full S405 range without adapter or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the S405 platform and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The notebook exited standby without error, and charge acceptance held steady from the first cycle through full capacity.
  • First-cycle calibration on the S405: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at the low-voltage cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single discharge-charge cycle resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the S405 routinely throws after any cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the W840BAT-4

The S405 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers written by the original cell during its service life. A new cell arrives with fresh EEPROM data that does not match the history the BIOS expects, so it flags the battery as degraded before a single charge completes. This is a firmware interpretation issue, not a cell fault. One full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% allows the BIOS learn cycle to overwrite the stale register values. After that cycle, the health indicator should return to normal.

S405 shutting down at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The gauge was mapped to the old, degraded cell and predicts a voltage floor that no longer matches reality — so the system shuts down while the gauge still shows charge remaining. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles back to back. After the second cycle the fuel gauge IC re-maps its curve to the new cell and the reported percentage at shutdown should drop to below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My S405 shows the W840BAT-4 as "unknown" or 0% in Windows right after fitting it — is the cell dead?

The cell is not dead. The Windows fuel gauge IC inherited calibration data from the old battery and has not yet mapped the new cell's discharge curve. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle the OS fuel gauge reads correctly and the "unknown" state clears.

The S405 BIOS still shows battery health as "poor" after the replacement — how do I fix it?

The BIOS pulled health data from EEPROM registers written by the original cell, and the new cell's fresh registers do not match that history. Complete one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. That single learn cycle overwrites the stale EEPROM data and the BIOS health indicator returns to a normal reading.

Windows Battery Report shows a different Wh rating than the 40.82Wh on the listing — which is correct?

The 40.82Wh figure in the listing comes from the cell's rated chemistry spec. The Windows Battery Report reads the Wh value from the EEPROM on the battery pack, which can differ slightly from the rated figure because it reflects the pack's programmed design capacity rather than the raw cell chemistry value. The discrepancy is normal and does not affect how the battery charges or how much energy it delivers — confirm the voltage reads 15.12V in the report to verify the correct cell is installed.
