This is a 14.8V, 4900mAh (72.52Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Aorus X5S gaming laptop and the X3 Plus v5, X3 Plus v7, and X3 Plus v7-KL3K4 series. It replaces OEM part GX-17S directly. Fits the notebook's standard battery bay without modification.

Why the Aorus X5S shuts down at 20–30% after a battery swap

The X5S fuel gauge IC maps its discharge curve against the original cell's EEPROM data. A new cell has a different voltage-versus-capacity slope, so the gauge miscalculates the remaining charge. Under full CPU and GPU load, the new cell hits its low-voltage cliff before the gauge expects it, and the system cuts power to protect the cells. The fix is the battery learn cycle — full discharge to hibernate, uninterrupted charge to 100% — repeated two to three times until the gauge recalibrates against the new chemistry.

BIOS reports battery health as "poor" or "replace now" immediately after install

The Aorus BIOS reads health data from the old cell's EEPROM and compares it to the new cell's reported state — they don't match, so it flags a fault. This is not a defect in the replacement cell. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the learn cycle. After one to two full calibration cycles, the BIOS health status should update to reflect the actual condition of the new cell.

Almost certainly not. The fuel gauge IC on the X5S reads the EEPROM data from the previous cell, and when it sees a mismatch with the new one, it can report 0% or "unknown" on first boot. Plug in the AC adapter and leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge cycle without using the laptop. The Aorus X5S battery percentage jumps wildly — shows 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes.

This is fuel gauge IC drift caused by the new cell's discharge curve not yet being mapped by the system. The gauge was calibrated against the old cell's chemistry and is now interpolating incorrectly. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge-to-100% cycles. The Aorus X5S BIOS shows the battery Wh rating as different from what's listed on the replacement cell — is something wrong?

No — this is an EEPROM versus actual chemistry mismatch. The BIOS reads the rated Wh value stored in the old cell's EEPROM and compares it to what the new cell reports. If the figures differ slightly, the BIOS flags it as a discrepancy rather than an error in charging behaviour. The cell itself operates at 14.8V and 72.52Wh as rated. Run the battery learn cycle once — full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% — and the BIOS Wh reading will update to reflect the installed cell.
