Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schenker VIA 14 / Work 17 Tiger Lake-H — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L140BAT-4)
This is a 7.7V, 9300mAh (71.61Wh) lithium-polymer cell for the Schenker VIA 14, VIA 14 Late 2020, and Work 17 Tiger Lake-H laptops. It replaces OEM part L140BAT-4 and connects directly to the motherboard via the original harness. Capacity figures come from the product data — not web estimates.
- VIA 14 and Work 17 Tiger Lake-H compatibility: Both platforms share the same physical cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol over SMBus. The L140BAT-4 part number covers all three listed variants — the BIOS reads the same EEPROM data block regardless of build date.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the VIA 14 platform. The BMS reported capacity correctly after two calibration cycles, and the protection circuit triggered cleanly at low-voltage cutoff without requiring a hard reset.
- First cycle after installation: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without putting the laptop to sleep mid-charge. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the L140BAT-4
The Schenker VIA 14 BIOS reads charge history and cycle count data stored in the old cell's EEPROM. When a new cell is installed, that data block is blank or mismatched, and the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the learn cycle. After two full cycles, the BIOS should report health above 95% and capacity close to the rated 71.61Wh.
Laptop shuts off at 20–30% remaining shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The percentage displayed is still mapped to the old cell's chemistry profile, so the voltage cliff arrives earlier than the OS predicts. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the uncalibrated gauge expects, and the BIOS pulls the plug before the screen reads zero. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the fuel gauge IC will remap the curve to the new cell — after that, shutdowns at 20–30% should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Schenker BIOS shows the new L140BAT-4 as "Unknown" or 0% right after installation — is the cell dead?
No. The BIOS is reading a blank EEPROM block from the new cell and cannot match it to a stored battery profile, so it reports Unknown or 0%. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle completes, the BIOS learn process will write a new profile and the status should clear to a normal percentage.
System information shows the wrong Wh rating — 45Wh or some other figure instead of 71.61Wh — after fitting this battery.
The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, and some replacement cells ship with a factory-default or reference value in that register. The actual electrochemical capacity of the cell is 71.61Wh as stated in the product data. Run two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the fuel gauge IC will recalculate the Wh figure based on real measured charge. If the figure still looks off after two cycles, cross-check it in HWiNFO64 under Battery → Full Charge Capacity.
Charging stops at 80% and will not go higher — is the cell faulty or is the charger the problem?
Neither. Schenker laptops ship with a BIOS-level charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress during extended AC use. This is a firmware setting, not a fault. Open the Control Center or Schenker Control software, navigate to battery settings, and disable or raise the charge threshold. Once the limit is cleared, the cell will charge to 100% on the next charge cycle.
