Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony VAIO PCG-SR Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PCGA-BP2S)
This is an 11.1V 4400mAh (48.84Wh) lithium-ion battery replacing OEM part PCGA-BP2S. It fits the Sony VAIO PCG-SR1/BP, PCG-SR11K, PCG-SR17, PCG-SR17D, and over 70 additional SR-series notebook models. The cell matches the original connector pinout and BMS handshake required by the VAIO PCG-SR platform.
- PCG-SR platform compatibility: All covered SR-series models share the same 11.1V three-cell rail, identical physical connector, and the same BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell works across this wide model range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a PCG-SR unit. The BMS handshook correctly, charge termination triggered at the expected voltage ceiling, and protection cutoff activated cleanly under load.
- Post-install discharge cycle: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false health warning that appears after every cell swap on SR-series notebooks.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installing a new cell
The PCG-SR BIOS reads EEPROM data stored on the original cell and compares it against incoming charge cycles to estimate health. A new cell has no matching history in that register, so the BIOS flags it as degraded — even though the cell is new. This is not a battery fault. Run one full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. After two to three cycles, the BIOS recalibrates its health estimate against the new cell's actual behaviour.
Laptop shuts off abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell cannot hold voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — even though the fuel gauge IC still shows remaining charge. The fuel gauge IC maps voltage curves from the old cell, so its percentage readout lags behind actual cell state. Under full load, voltage drops steeply and hits the BMS floor before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles to let the fuel gauge IC relearn the voltage curve of the new cell, and the premature shutdowns should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VAIO PCG-SR shows a different Wh rating in system info than what this battery lists — is the cell wrong?
The Wh figure shown in Windows power settings or VAIO system tools reads from the EEPROM on the original cell, not from a live measurement of the new one. After swapping cells, that register still holds the old factory value until the BIOS overwrites it through calibration cycles. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full charges. The reported Wh figure will update to reflect the new cell's actual 48.84Wh rating once the BIOS has enough cycle data to rewrite the stored value.
The fuel gauge jumps around wildly for the first few charges — showing 80%, then 45%, then 90% within minutes.
The fuel gauge IC on the PCG-SR platform tracks capacity by measuring voltage curves built up from previous charge cycles. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile than the aged cell it replaced, so the IC's voltage-to-percentage mapping is temporarily miscalibrated. The erratic readings are not a sign of a faulty cell. Run three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100%, and the fuel gauge IC will stabilise against the new cell's actual voltage curve.
This battery charges to 80% then stops — the charge light goes off and nothing I do gets it past that point.
Some PCG-SR BIOS versions include a charge limit setting that caps the cell at 80% to reduce long-term wear — it is a firmware control, not a battery fault. Open VAIO Control Center, navigate to the battery care or power management section, and check whether a charge limit mode is active. Switching it off restores full charging to 100%. If VAIO Control Center is not installed, reinstall it from the Sony support page for your specific SR model, then check the setting again.
