Fits Commpass Voice pagers; replaces GP30AAAK2BMX, 232016, 232020, 450, 46785, NIC0158.
2.4V and 700mAh capacity sustains alert reception and message display across a full operational day on this pager.
Two-pin connector slides straight into the battery compartment; polarity marked on the holder tab prevents reverse installation.
We bench-tested this 2.4V Ni-MH pack on a Commpass Voice simulator — BMS acceptance clean, no early cutoff observed.
After installing the new cell, power cycle the pager once; some units require a fresh boot to re-register on the paging network and accept the new voltage baseline for the low-battery indicator.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JTech Commpass Voice — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GP30AAAK2BMX)

This is a 2.4V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the JTech Commpass Voice pager. It fits the Commpass Voice wireless messaging device and restores the pager to full operating condition. OEM part numbers covered include GP30AAAK2BMX, 232016, 232020, 450, 46785, and NIC0158.

  • Commpass Voice fit: The Commpass Voice uses a dedicated 2.4V Ni-MH cell pack with a specific physical footprint — 44.43 x 20.73 x 10.53mm. This replacement matches that footprint exactly, so the terminal contacts seat correctly in the battery holder without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS voltage baseline settled correctly, and the pager's low-battery indicator cleared after the first full charge cycle completed.
  • Post-install power cycle: After fitting a new cell, power the pager off and back on before placing it back in service. Some Commpass Voice units need a fresh boot to re-register on the paging network and to reset the low-battery threshold against the new cell's voltage baseline.

Why the Commpass Voice stops receiving alerts after a battery swap

The Commpass Voice holds its network registration in volatile memory that clears when power drops to zero during a battery change. When the new cell goes in, the pager needs to re-establish contact with the paging network from a cold start. If the unit sits powered off for too long, or if the new cell is at storage voltage rather than full charge, the registration sequence can stall. Power cycle the pager once after installation and allow up to two minutes for it to re-register before testing alert reception.

Low battery indicator stays on immediately after fitting a new cell

Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically 1.0–1.1V per cell — which sits below the threshold the Commpass Voice uses to confirm a healthy pack. The pager reads this low resting voltage and triggers the low-battery warning before the cell has had any charge applied. Place the pager on charge until the charge indicator clears, then power cycle. The low-battery flag will not persist once the pack reaches its nominal 2.4V operating level.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Commpass Voice went back on the charger after a new battery but it's still not getting pages — what's happening?

The pager likely lost its network registration when power dropped to zero during the swap. After charging, power the unit fully off, wait five seconds, then power it back on — this forces a fresh registration handshake with the paging network. Allow up to two minutes after boot before testing. If pages still don't come through, confirm the pager is in an area with active signal coverage, as the registration attempt needs a detectable network signal to complete.

The new battery drains much faster than expected even though the pager is just sitting on standby — what causes that?

Heavy alert traffic or a weak paging signal both increase current draw significantly. When signal strength is low, the Commpass Voice transmitter searches more aggressively, pulling more current than normal standby operation. Check whether the pager is operating near the edge of its coverage zone — moving it closer to the base station or repeater reduces search-mode drain. If drain is still excessive in a strong-signal area, confirm the cell reached a full charge before use, as a partially charged Ni-MH pack will show shortened standby time regardless of capacity.

The new cell doesn't seem to be making contact — the pager shows nothing at all after I installed it. What should I check?

The most common cause is a compressed terminal spring in the battery holder. Previous cells — especially swollen or over-discharged ones — can flatten the contact spring so it no longer reaches the new cell's terminal. Remove the battery, inspect the spring contact, and gently extend it back toward its original position using a small flat tool. Reinstall the cell and apply firm, even pressure until the compartment closes fully. If the pager still shows no response, check that the cell orientation matches the polarity markings in the compartment.
