Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Szzt KS8210 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Q24384)

This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Szzt KS8210 handheld payment terminal. It slots into the KS8210 and restores full operating power to the device. Capacity is 14.8Wh — matching the original cell specification.

  • KS8210 platform fit: The KS8210 uses a dedicated battery bay with a fixed connector pinout tied to a BMS handshake that authenticates cell chemistry and voltage profile. This replacement carries the correct 7.4V nominal rating and cell configuration so the terminal's charge controller accepts it without fault flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the KS8210's full boot sequence and ran simulated transaction loads — card reader, display, and thermal printer firing together. The BMS held steady through combined current draw without triggering overcurrent cutoff.
  • First-deployment calibration: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before putting the terminal into live service. The KS8210 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The KS8210's thermal printer draws a sharp current spike — typically 1.5A to 2A for about 200ms — every time it prints a receipt. On a new battery that hasn't completed its first charge-discharge cycle, the BMS may interpret that spike as an overcurrent event and cut output. This usually resolves after the first full charge cycle, which allows the BMS to set accurate current threshold baselines. If reboots persist beyond the second full charge, check that the battery contacts on the terminal are clean and making solid contact — oxidised pins increase resistance and amplify the voltage drop during printer-motor load.

Terminal won't power on after sitting unused in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. A KS8210 left in a drawer for several months may have a battery that has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or approximately 5.0V total pack voltage. At that point the BMS locks output to protect the cells, and pressing the power button produces nothing. Connect the terminal to a charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing any buttons — the charge IC runs a trickle-charge recovery sequence that brings cell voltage back above the 5.0V unlock threshold before resuming normal charge rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

The KS8210 charge indicator has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. When the charge IC sees a new cell near full voltage, it enters top-off mode and trickle-charges at a low rate rather than jumping straight to 100%. The indicator stays at 99% until the final microamp top-off completes, which can take 30–60 minutes after the main charge cycle finishes. Leave the terminal on charge with the screen active and it will tick over to 100% on its own.

The KS8210 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery the cause?

Heat during heavy use is normal but worth understanding. The KS8210 runs its display, wireless radio, and thermal printer simultaneously during peak periods, and combined draw across a 7.4V pack at 2000mAh generates heat in both the cell and the charge circuitry. The battery surface should feel warm, not hot — if it's too hot to hold comfortably, that points to a ventilation issue or a high-resistance connector contact rather than a cell fault. Clean the battery bay contacts with a dry cloth and ensure the terminal isn't enclosed in a case that blocks airflow.

The KS8210 powers on but freezes partway through the PCI boot sequence — could this be a battery issue?

Yes, this is a known handshake timing issue on first installation. The KS8210's PCI boot sequence polls the battery's BMS for a valid authentication response before it completes startup. On a freshly installed cell, the BMS may not respond within the terminal's timeout window if the cell voltage is below approximately 7.2V. Charge the terminal fully before the first boot attempt — once the cell reaches 7.4V nominal, the BMS responds within the polling window and the boot sequence completes normally.
