Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Szzt KS8223 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1ICP7/60/90)
This is a 3.7V, 4950mAh Li-ion battery for the Szzt KS8223 payment terminal. It matches the OEM part number 1ICP7/60/90 and fits the KS8223 form factor directly. Voltage and capacity figures come from the product data, not estimates.
- KS8223 platform fit: The KS8223 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture with a BMS that validates cell voltage and thermistor response at boot. This replacement carries the same voltage rail and connector pinout, so the terminal's power management IC accepts the handshake without error flags.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the KS8223 platform, monitoring BMS response during the receipt printer motor-start surge and wireless transaction load. The protection circuit held without tripping an overcurrent cutoff under combined draw.
- First deployment cycle: After installation, run at least one complete transaction — including a receipt print — before putting the terminal into live service. The KS8223 maps cell capacity during normal operation, and the charge indicator will not read accurately until the terminal completes one full power cycle with real load.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The KS8223 runs a PCI-compliant boot check that includes a battery authentication step. On a new cell, the BMS may not have completed its first handshake with the terminal's charge IC, which can stall the boot sequence before the OS loads. This is not a fault with the battery — it is the terminal waiting for a recognised charge state. Charge the battery to full with the terminal powered off, then power on. That single charge cycle is usually enough to clear the boot hold.
Terminal rebooting mid-transaction during receipt print
The receipt printer motor in the KS8223 draws a short but sharp current spike at the start of each print job. If the cell voltage is already low or the BMS overcurrent threshold is marginal, that spike can trip a protective cutoff and force a hard reboot. The result looks like a random crash, but it is consistently tied to print events. Keep the battery above 20% charge during active service, and confirm the terminal firmware is current — some firmware versions adjusted the BMS trip threshold specifically for printer load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KS8223 was sitting unused for a few months and now it won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Extended storage without charging can drop a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the terminal sees no usable voltage and refuses to boot. Connect the terminal to the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on — some BMS circuits require a trickle pre-charge phase to recover a deeply discharged cell before normal charging begins. If the charge LED does not light within 10 minutes of connecting power, try a different charging cable and adapter. Once the cell recovers above approximately 3.0V, the BMS will re-engage and normal charging resumes.
The battery indicator has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong. When a new cell is installed, the KS8223's charge IC enters a top-off mode rather than a full charge cycle, which can hold the display at 99% for an extended period. The indicator will not drop to a realistic reading until the terminal has completed at least one discharge-and-charge cycle under real operating load. Run the terminal through normal transactions until it needs charging, charge it to full, and the gauge will calibrate correctly from that point.
The terminal feels noticeably warm during busy transaction periods — is the battery overheating?
During peak load the KS8223 is running the display, wireless radio, and printer simultaneously, and that combined draw raises the cell temperature above idle levels. Moderate warmth is normal. If the terminal becomes hot to the touch or shuts down mid-session, check that the device is not enclosed in a tight case or dock that blocks airflow around the battery compartment. The BMS will cut power if the cell temperature exceeds its thermal threshold — typically around 60°C — so ensure ventilation is clear and the terminal is not left in direct sunlight or a hot countertop environment during heavy use periods.
