Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone e280s / e280s V2 — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPK457-001)
This 3.85V 3000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the VeriFone e280s and e280s V2 mobile payment terminals. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector, and BMS communication protocol the terminal expects. Rated at 11.55Wh and built to the same physical footprint at 81.30 × 52.60 × 5.70mm.
- e280s and e280s V2 compatibility: Both variants run the same 3.85V power rail and share the BPK457-001 connector and BMS handshake. The same cell fits both — no hardware difference in how they draw or communicate with the battery pack.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on the e280s platform. The BMS accepted the handshake cleanly on first boot, charge IC reached top-off without faults, and the terminal reported state-of-charge correctly after one full power cycle.
- First deployment tip: After fitting the battery, complete one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before deploying the terminal in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.
Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
The e280s draws a combined load from the display, wireless radio, and receipt printer simultaneously during a transaction. On a new or cold cell, that combined current spike can trigger the BMS overcurrent protection before the pack has completed its first full calibration cycle. The BMS interprets the surge as a fault and cuts output, causing the terminal to restart. Run at least one complete transaction cycle — print included — before live deployment, and the BMS will map the load profile correctly from that point forward.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence on a freshly installed battery
The e280s runs a PCI-compliant security boot that checks battery state before completing initialisation. If the BMS handshake hasn't been accepted yet, or the cell voltage reads below the terminal's minimum threshold from storage discharge, the boot sequence stalls or loops. Connect the terminal to a charger and allow it to reach at least 3.7V before attempting to power on. One full charge cycle resolves the handshake and lets the PCI sequence complete normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My e280s won't turn on at all after sitting unused in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
Likely not dead, but the cell has self-discharged below the terminal's minimum recovery threshold. Connect the terminal to its original charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle the cell back above roughly 3.0V before the BMS will allow a boot. If the charge LED shows any activity, the cell is recovering. Force a power-on attempt too early and the terminal will simply ignore it.
The battery indicator has been stuck at 99% since I first charged this replacement — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong. When a new cell is installed, the terminal's charge IC enters top-off mode and holds the display at 99% while it finishes balancing the cell to full capacity. This is normal behaviour on first charge and typically clears after the terminal completes one full discharge and recharge cycle. Run the terminal through a normal shift, let it charge overnight, and the indicator will recalibrate to show accurate state-of-charge.
The e280s gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery overheating?
Warmth during heavy use is expected on this terminal. The combined draw from the touchscreen backlight, Wi-Fi or cellular radio, and receipt printer motor all run simultaneously during peak transaction periods, and the current load generates heat across the cell and board. The BMS will trip if the cell temperature exceeds its safe threshold, but moderate warmth does not indicate a fault. If the terminal is shutting down from heat, check that the rear cover is seated flush — a gap reduces thermal contact between the battery and chassis and concentrates heat at the cell.
