This 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BTR5600B in the Dopod 585 Pocket PC. It fits the 585's original battery bay and connects via the same contact configuration. Use the Capacity figure above — 2200mAh — as the reference spec.

  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a 585 unit. The onboard BMS accepted the cell, reported charge state correctly in Windows Mobile's power applet, and held voltage within the expected range across the discharge curve.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Sync all open data to your host PC or ActiveSync partner before removing the battery. The Dopod 585 stores active application state and unsaved data in volatile SRAM powered directly by the main cell — a full power loss clears that memory instantly.

Why the Dopod 585 loses RAM contents on battery removal

The 585 uses SRAM — static RAM — to hold the running OS state, open files, and application data. SRAM requires continuous voltage to retain its contents. When the main battery is removed, even briefly, that voltage drops to zero and every bit in SRAM resets. There is no flash-backed suspend state on this hardware. A full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync before the swap is the only way to protect unsaved data.

Dopod 585 stuck on boot screen after fitting a new battery

A freshly shipped Li-ion cell may sit at or below 3.2V after storage. The 585's boot sequence draws a short current spike to initialise the display and radio, and a low-state cell can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold right at that moment. The device then stalls mid-boot or cycles back to the splash screen. Charge the new battery for at least 90 minutes before attempting a first boot, then confirm the Windows Mobile power applet shows above 3.6V before restarting.
