Fits HP Jornada 920 and 928 PDAs, replacing original F2937A battery pack.
3.7V 950mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers full charge cycles without memory effect degradation.
Connector slides straight into original battery slot with positive terminal facing outward.
We bench tested this cell in a Jornada 920 — BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage stable across three full cycles.
Perform a full data sync to the host computer before removing the old battery, since PDA RAM powers open files and active application state, and power loss erases unsaved work.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Jornada 920 / 928 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (F2937A)

This is a 3.7V, 950mAh Li-Polymer battery for the HP Jornada 920 and Jornada 928 Pocket PC handhelds. It replaces OEM part number F2937A, which is the original cell used in both models. If your Jornada no longer holds a charge or won't power on at all, this battery is the direct swap.

  • Jornada 920 and 928 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V power rail. The BMS communication protocol is also identical across the two, so one cell covers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the F2937A replacement through charge and discharge cycles on a Jornada unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held charge across the full cycle, and delivered a stable output voltage throughout discharge.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Perform a full ActiveSync data sync to a host PC before removing the battery. The Jornada 920 stores open files, contacts, and application state in volatile SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Pulling the cell without syncing wipes that data permanently.

Why the Jornada 920 loses all data after a battery replacement

The Jornada 920 uses SRAM as its primary storage for active data, and that SRAM requires continuous power to retain its contents. Unlike flash-based storage, SRAM loses everything the moment voltage drops to zero — which happens during a battery swap. There is no background retention circuit on this model that bridges the gap during cell removal. Sync to a PC via ActiveSync before every battery change, then restore from backup after fitting the new cell.

Jornada 928 won't boot after fitting a new battery

A freshly shipped Li-Polymer cell typically arrives at a storage charge of around 3.0–3.2V. The Jornada's boot sequence demands a minimum voltage threshold before the processor will initialise, and a partially discharged cell can fall short of that threshold. The device may show nothing on screen or display a low-battery icon immediately. Connect to the original HP charger and allow the cell to reach at least 3.6V before attempting to power on.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Jornada 920 lost all my contacts and calendar entries after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it happens because the Jornada stores contacts, calendar data, and app state in SRAM, which needs constant power to retain anything. The moment the old battery comes out, that data is gone. Before the next swap, open ActiveSync on a PC, run a full sync, and confirm the backup completed. After fitting the new battery, restore from that backup and your data will be intact.

The Jornada 928 screen stays completely blank after I installed the replacement battery — what's wrong?

The battery almost certainly arrived below the minimum voltage needed to trigger the Jornada's boot sequence, which is common with stored Li-Polymer cells. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes before pressing the power button. If the charge LED lights up, the cell is drawing current and the device is not faulty. Try booting once the battery reads at least 3.6V.

Wireless sync drops out or runs very slowly after fitting the new battery — what causes that?

The Jornada's wireless radio draws significantly more current than standby mode, and a cell that isn't yet at full charge will sag under that load. Voltage sag during radio transmission causes the device to throttle or drop the connection entirely. Charge the battery fully before running a wireless session. A cell sitting at 3.7V or above will hold the voltage rail steady enough for the radio to stay connected.
