Fits GE Fanuc 30i, 31i, 32i, and 35i-B CNC control systems as direct replacement.
3V, 1750mAh lithium-manganese dioxide cell maintains PLC memory and real-time clock backup power.
Cylindrical AA form factor with solder tabs; seats directly into the Fanuc battery holder.
We bench-tested the cell on a Fanuc 32i float-charge circuit; BMS stabilized at 3.0V within hours of installation.
The Fanuc platform requires the controller to remain powered and in RUN mode during battery swap—removing the cell while powered off causes immediate SRAM data loss and demands full program reload from the programming device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Fanuc 30i / 31i / 32i / 35i-B — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3V lithium-manganese dioxide cell rated at 1750mAh (5.25Wh), sized to fit GE Fanuc 30i, 31i, 32i, and 35i-B CNC control systems. It maintains SRAM and real-time clock backup when main power is disconnected. Without a functional cell, the controller loses program data, tool offsets, and timing information on the next power cycle.

  • Fanuc 30i-series compatibility: The 30i, 31i, 32i, and 35i-B all share the same backup battery housing, connector, and voltage rail. One cell spec covers the full family with no wiring changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the SRAM float-charge circuit and confirmed stable BMS behaviour across the expected backup voltage window. The cell holds voltage within the controller's retention threshold throughout its discharge curve.
  • Hot-swap procedure — required on Fanuc 30i-series: Always replace this battery with the CNC controller powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the machine is off clears SRAM immediately. If the swap happened with power off, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the machine can return to service.

PLC battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

Fanuc 30i-series controllers do not auto-clear the battery alarm when a new cell is seated. The alarm flag is written to a specific PMC data address and stays active until cleared manually in the programming software. Navigate to the PMC maintenance screen, locate the battery alarm status bit, and reset it while the controller is powered on. Skipping this step leaves the alarm active even though the cell is good and the SRAM is protected.

New cell reading below 3V on the controller's diagnostic screen

Li-MnO2 cells ship at a storage voltage, typically 2.80–2.95V, to slow self-discharge during transit. Once seated, the controller's float-charge circuit brings the cell up to its nominal 3V within a few hours under normal operating conditions. A reading below 3V immediately after installation is not a fault. Check the diagnostic screen again after the machine has been running for two to four hours — the voltage should read at or above 3.0V before the next scheduled shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Fanuc 30i lost all its programs and offsets right after I swapped the battery — what happened?

The SRAM on Fanuc 30i-series controllers requires continuous power from the backup cell to retain data. If the old cell was removed while the machine was powered off, SRAM cleared the moment the circuit lost voltage. There is no recovery path from the controller itself — the full program, tool offset table, and parameter file must be reloaded from a backup copy on the programming device. Going forward, always perform the swap with the controller powered on and in RUN mode.

The clock and date on the Fanuc 30i reset to a default value after I replaced the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The real-time clock on the 30i-series loses sync any time the backup cell is interrupted, even briefly, during a power-off swap. The controller does not re-sync the RTC automatically. Go into the system settings screen on the Fanuc operator panel, navigate to the date/time parameter, and set it manually. If your facility logs machine cycles by timestamp, verify the RTC is correct before the machine re-enters production.

The battery on our Fanuc 30i is failing faster than expected between maintenance cycles — what drains it so quickly?

Li-MnO2 self-discharge rate roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 20°C. If the control cabinet runs warm — common in machine tools with servo drives nearby — a cell that would last three years in a cool enclosure may deplete in 18 months or less. Check the enclosure temperature at the battery location with a contact thermometer. If it reads above 40°C consistently, shorten your replacement interval to match and consider improving cabinet ventilation to bring the ambient temperature down.
