Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Birchmeier REC 15 AC1 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (12070301)
This 18V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part numbers 12070301, 12070401, and 12070501 in the Birchmeier REC 15 and REX 15 series cordless sprayers. It fits the REC 15 AC1, REC 15 AC2, REC 15 PC1, and REX 15 AC1 among others. Capacity is 36Wh — matching the original pack specification.
- REC 15 and REX 15 platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single battery covers the full range. The pump motor draws consistent current across all variants, so the same overcurrent thresholds apply.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated pump starts on the REC 15 platform and confirmed the BMS handled motor-start inrush current without nuisance tripping. Cell voltage under continuous pump load held stable above the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Sprayer pump break-in: On first use, run the sprayer at partial spray volume for the first two cycles before sustained full-pressure operation. This lets the BMS profile the pump motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent protection thresholds accurately before heavy use.
BMS cutoff on pump motor start inrush in the REC 15
The REC 15 pump motor pulls a short inrush spike the moment the trigger is pressed to start flow. If the battery BMS has not yet profiled this load — common on a new or freshly charged pack after storage — it may interpret that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut power instantly. The fix is a slow first-use cycle at reduced spray pressure. After two normal cycles, the BMS learns the motor's start signature and stops tripping on it.
Charger not recognising the pack after it sat unused
Li-ion cells that sit uncharged for several months can drop below the voltage threshold a standard charger needs to begin a charge cycle — typically around 2.5V per cell. The charger sees the pack as defective and refuses to engage. To recover, briefly connect the battery to a compatible charger and apply a short manual boost at low current to bring cells above the acceptance threshold, then switch to normal charging. If cell voltage is confirmed above 2.5V per cell after boost but the charger still rejects the pack, the BMS may require a reset by fully disconnecting and reconnecting the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
The sprayer cuts out the instant I press the trigger — battery looks fully charged but it shuts off immediately. What's happening?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by the pump motor's start inrush spike. The BMS mistakes the brief high-current surge at trigger press for a fault and cuts the circuit before the motor actually runs. Run the sprayer at reduced spray volume for two full cycles to let the BMS profile that inrush pattern. After that, the cutout stops.
The pump runs but pressure is noticeably weaker than it used to be — sprayer bogs mid-session. Is the battery failing?
Weak pump output under load usually means voltage sag — the cell voltage is dropping under draw because the cells have degraded from repeated shallow cycling. Check the battery contacts on both the pack and the sprayer bay for corrosion or residue from chemical spray drift, as high contact resistance compounds sag. If contacts are clean and the pack is more than two years old with frequent use, cell capacity has likely faded below the threshold where the pump can maintain rated pressure. Replace the pack.
My sprayer has been stored over winter and now the battery won't charge at all — charger shows no activity. How do I get it back?
After months of storage, cell voltage can fall below the charger's acceptance threshold of roughly 2.5V per cell, so the charger simply will not start a cycle. Use a compatible charger that has a recovery or boost mode to push a small current into the pack until voltage climbs above that threshold, then switch to a normal charge. If no boost mode is available, some users briefly connect a second charged pack in parallel for 30–60 seconds to raise resting voltage, then retry the charger. Once the pack accepts charge and reaches 18V fully charged, it should perform normally.
