Fits Edding portable 12 and replaces the OEM 18V lithium-ion battery pack.
18V and 2000mAh capacity delivers consistent power output throughout the charge cycle without voltage sag under motor load.
Connector slides straight into the tool's battery slot with a quarter-turn locking tab — no force needed.
We bench-tested the BMS under sustained drill operation; thermal cutoff engaged at 65°C housing temperature as expected.
On first use with this pack, run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Edding portable 12 / LO-G-PO-12 — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is an 18V, 2000mAh (36Wh) Li-ion battery pack for the Edding portable 12 and LO-G-PO-12 cordless power tool. It replaces a dead or degraded original pack on these two models. Voltage and connector match the original specification.

  • portable 12 and LO-G-PO-12 platform: Both models share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the bench, confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the charger, and verified the overcurrent cutoff trips within spec on simulated motor-start inrush events.
  • Motor inrush conditioning: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before any maximum-torque application. This allows the BMS to log the motor's inrush current signature before locking its overcurrent protection thresholds.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the portable 12

When you pull the trigger on a cold pack, the motor draws a surge current well above its steady-state running current. If the BMS has not yet profiled the motor load, it can interpret that spike as a fault and cut power immediately. This is not a dead battery — it is a protective trip. Reset by releasing the trigger fully, waiting three seconds, and squeezing again at partial throttle to let the BMS log a softer inrush curve before full-speed operation.

Charger not recognising the new pack after storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during warehouse storage. If cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, many chargers refuse to begin a charge cycle and show a blinking error light instead of a solid charging indicator. The BMS blocks the charger from seeing a valid pack until minimum cell voltage is restored. Some chargers include a recovery or "wake-up" mode — engage that, or try a different compatible 18V charger that accepts below-threshold packs, to bring the cells back above the acceptance threshold before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The portable 12 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the battery dead or is something else happening?

This is almost always a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead pack. The motor draws a large inrush spike the moment the trigger closes, and a BMS that has not yet profiled that motor will cut output before the tool spins. Release the trigger completely, wait three seconds, then squeeze slowly to half-speed before going full throttle. After one or two partial-load starts, the BMS logs the inrush curve and the cutout stops.

The tool starts fine but bogs badly under heavy load — why does it lose power mid-cut?

That behaviour points to voltage sag, not a capacity problem. Under sustained heavy load, internal resistance in the cells causes the pack's output voltage to drop — the tool's electronics see a low-voltage condition and reduce power to protect themselves. Check the battery rail contacts on both the pack and the tool for corrosion or debris first, as high contact resistance makes sag dramatically worse. Clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol, seat the pack firmly, and retest; if sag persists, the cells may be degraded below their rated internal resistance.

Does cold weather affect how this battery performs on a job site below 5°C?

Yes — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which increases voltage sag and can cause the BMS to trip earlier than normal under motor load. Store the pack indoors overnight and fit it to the tool just before use to keep cells above 10°C at the start of a shift. If the pack has been sitting in a cold vehicle, allow it to warm for at least 20 minutes at room temperature before putting it under load.
