Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DeltaFox Grizzly 80001146 / 80001147 — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 18V 2000mAh (36Wh) lithium-ion battery for the DeltaFox Grizzly cordless power tool range. It fits the Grizzly 80001146, 80001147, 2020, and 2040 platforms. Same voltage rail, same connector footprint across all four models.
- Grizzly 80001146, 80001147, 2020, and 2040 compatibility: All four models share the same 18V battery bay and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across this Grizzly line, so one battery pack cycles between platforms without re-pairing or charger reconfiguration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through motor-start inrush simulation on a drill platform and monitored BMS overcurrent response. The protection circuit held stable across repeated trigger pulls without nuisance tripping. Cell voltage balanced within expected range after five full charge-discharge cycles.
- First-use load conditioning on Grizzly tools: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications. This allows the BMS to profile the motor inrush current draw and set accurate overcurrent protection thresholds before you push the pack hard.
BMS Cutoff on Motor-Start Inrush Surge
When you pull the trigger on a drill or saw, the motor draws a current spike that can be three to five times the steady running current. If the BMS overcurrent threshold is set conservatively — common on freshly manufactured cells — that spike trips the protection circuit before the motor reaches speed. The pack shuts down and the tool stops immediately. Two or three conditioning cycles at partial load teach the BMS the actual inrush profile of your specific motor, raising the effective trip point to a working level.
Charger Blinking Red on a New Pack After Storage
Li-ion chargers check cell voltage before starting a charge cycle. If the pack has been in storage and cells have self-discharged below roughly 2.5V per cell, the charger reads the pack as faulty and blinks red rather than starting. The fix is a trickle or recovery charge — leave the pack on the charger for 20 to 30 minutes without removing it. Most chargers in this voltage class will detect the slow voltage rise and transition into normal CC/CV charging once cells clear the 3.0V acceptance threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DeltaFox Grizzly drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — is the battery faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The motor-start inrush spike on a new pack briefly exceeds the BMS protection threshold, cutting the circuit before the motor reaches speed. Run the drill at half load — driving light screws or drilling small pilot holes — for two full charge cycles. After conditioning, the BMS recalibrates its trip point and the cutout on hard trigger pulls stops.
The Grizzly saw runs fine at first but bogs down and feels weak after a few minutes of cutting — what's happening?
Sustained circular saw load generates heat in both the motor and the battery cells. As cell temperature rises inside the enclosed housing, internal resistance increases and voltage sag sets in — the pack can no longer hold the rail voltage the motor needs under load. Let the pack cool for 10 minutes between heavy cuts. If the bogging starts at the beginning of a session rather than after extended use, check the rail contacts in the battery bay for corrosion or debris; clean them with isopropyl alcohol and reseat the pack.
The Grizzly 2040 runs noticeably slower in winter — is something wrong with the new battery?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which limits how fast the cells can deliver current. The tool draws the same wattage, but the battery cannot sustain the voltage rail at that current rate in the cold. Bring the pack to room temperature before use — 15 minutes indoors is enough. At room temperature, check the open-circuit voltage on a multimeter; a healthy fully-charged 18V Li-ion pack should read between 20.0V and 21.0V.
