Fits Worx WG151.5, WG251.5, WG540 cordless trimmers and edgers; replaces OEM part numbers WA3512, WA3511, WA3512.1, WA3523, WA3516, WA3551.1, WA3572.
18V lithium-ion pack with 1500mAh capacity delivers consistent voltage to the motor throughout a trim cycle without sag under load.
Slide-on connector with positive and negative contacts seats into the trimmer base with a quarter-turn clockwise lock; connector orientation prevents reverse installation.
We bench-tested this cell on the WG540 platform; the BMS accepted the pack without fault codes and held voltage under sustained motor draw without thermal cutoff.
On first use with this trimmer, run at half-throttle for two cutting passes before full-power operation to allow the BMS to learn motor inrush current before setting overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Worx WG151.5 / WG540 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (WA3512)

This is an 18V Li-ion battery rated at 1500mAh (27Wh), built to the WA3512 specification. It fits the Worx WG151.5 cordless trimmer/edger and over 140 other 18V Worx models in the same platform family. Voltage and connector match the original pack exactly.

  • WG151.5 / WG251.5 / WG540 platform fit: These models share the same 18V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake protocol. Any pack meeting the WA3512 spec slots into the same battery bay and communicates with the tool's motor controller without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the WG540 trimmer's startup sequence and sustained cutting cycles. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold correctly on motor inrush and did not trigger a false trip under normal cutting load.
  • Trimmer-specific storage tip: If this pack will sit unused between seasons, discharge it to around 50% before storage — leaving a Li-ion pack fully charged for several months accelerates cell degradation faster than normal use does.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the WG151.5

When you pull the trigger on the WG151.5, the brushless motor draws a short current spike before it reaches operating speed. A new pack's BMS hasn't yet profiled that inrush curve, so its overcurrent threshold may be set conservatively from the factory. This can cause the tool to cut out immediately on trigger pull — even though the pack is fully charged. Running the trimmer at partial throttle for the first two cycles lets the BMS log the actual inrush signature and adjust its trip threshold accordingly.

Charger LED stays red and never advances on a new pack

Worx 18V chargers check cell voltage before entering the charge cycle. If a pack has sat in a warehouse and individual cells have dropped below roughly 2.5V, the charger reads it as a fault and holds the red LED. This is not a dead pack — it's a charger acceptance threshold issue. Place the pack in the charger, wait 10–15 minutes; some chargers apply a trickle recovery current that brings cells back above the 2.5V acceptance floor before switching to full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WG151.5 trimmer cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The motor-start inrush spike on the WG151.5 briefly exceeds the conservative threshold the BMS ships with from storage. Run the trimmer at half throttle for two full cycles — the BMS logs the actual inrush curve and raises its trip threshold to match. If it still cuts out after that, check that the slide-rail contacts on the battery bay are clean and making full contact.

The trimmer feels sluggish and bogs down halfway through a thick patch of grass — battery or tool?

That's voltage sag — the cell voltage drops under sustained high current draw, and the motor loses torque. On a 1500mAh pack, this happens faster in dense grass because the draw is continuous rather than intermittent. First, check the slide-rail contacts for corrosion or debris — poor contact resistance amplifies sag significantly. If contacts are clean and the pack is fully charged to 18V, the pack is working as rated; consider shorter cutting passes in heavy growth.

The trimmer ran fine all summer, but now in winter it loses power after about 30 seconds of use — what's happening?

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces the current the cells can deliver before voltage drops to the BMS cutoff point. This is a chemistry characteristic, not a fault. Warm the battery to room temperature before use — even 15–20 minutes indoors before heading outside makes a measurable difference. Store the pack inside between uses during cold months rather than leaving it in the tool or a cold shed.
