Fits Eibenstock EPG 400 A angle grinder; replaces OEM battery pack for 18V cordless operation.
18V and 6000mAh capacity sustains grinding and cutting cycles on metal, stone, and masonry without mid-job swaps.
Connector seats flush into the EPG 400 A battery slot with indexed alignment; locking tab engages on full seating.
We bench-tested this cell under sustained motor load — BMS held voltage rail steady, no thermal cutoff triggered during continuous grinding.
On first use with the EPG 400 A, run the grinder at half throttle for two cycles before full-load grinding — allows the BMS to profile motor inrush spikes before locking overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eibenstock EPG 400 A — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 6000mAh (108Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on the Eibenstock EPG 400 A cordless angle grinder. It fits the EPG 400 A, EPG 400 A ohne, and EPG 400 A ohne Akkus und Ladegerat variants. Same voltage rail, same connector footprint, same BMS communication protocol as the factory pack.

  • EPG 400 A platform fit: All three listed EPG 400 A variants share the same 18V battery bay and BMS handshake protocol. The grinder's speed controller expects a specific discharge curve; cells here match that profile so the tool doesn't throttle mid-cut.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on an angle grinder platform. The BMS held overcurrent thresholds stable across cold starts and sustained grinding loads without tripping.
  • Motor inrush conditioning: On first use, run the grinder at half load for two cycles before full-depth cutting or heavy grinding. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and calibrate overcurrent protection thresholds before you push the tool hard.

BMS cutoff on EPG 400 A motor-start inrush surge

The EPG 400 A draws a brief high-current spike every time the trigger is pulled from rest — this inrush can reach three to five times the normal running current. A BMS that hasn't profiled the motor yet may read that spike as a fault and cut the pack. Cells with higher cold internal resistance make this worse, especially below 10°C. Warming the pack to room temperature before use and completing two light conditioning cycles reduces false cutoff events.

Grinder bogs under load after several cuts in a row

Sustained grinding heats both the motor and the battery cells inside the EPG 400 A's enclosed housing. As cell temperature rises, internal resistance increases and the voltage rail sags under load — the grinder loses torque and slows. This is not cell failure; it is thermal voltage sag. Let the pack rest for three to five minutes between heavy cutting sessions and check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated — dirty contacts add resistance and make sag worse at the same load level.

Frequently Asked Questions

My EPG 400 A cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a fresh charge — why?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush. The spike when the grinder starts from rest exceeds the BMS threshold before it has profiled the motor's current draw. Run two light grinding passes first — this lets the BMS log the inrush signature and raise the trip threshold accordingly. If it still trips, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full contact, as added resistance amplifies the apparent current spike.

The charger won't recognise this battery after it sat unused for a few months — light just blinks.

After extended storage, cell voltage drops below the charger's acceptance threshold, typically around 2.5V per cell. Most chargers won't initiate a full charge cycle on a pack they read as potentially damaged. Use a charger that has a recovery or "wake" mode to trickle-charge the pack up to 3.0V per cell, at which point the charger will accept it normally. If the pack doesn't respond after 20–30 minutes of trickle input, the cells have self-discharged past safe recovery.

Battery feels warm and the grinder loses power after three or four cuts — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is thermal voltage sag, not a fault. Sustained cutting heats the cells inside the EPG 400 A's enclosed housing, which raises internal resistance and causes the voltage rail to drop under load. Give the pack a three to five minute rest between heavy cutting sessions to let cell temperature drop. Also check that the terminal contacts are clean; corroded or partially seated contacts add resistance that worsens sag at the same load level.
