Fits Parkside PSBSA 20-Li-C3, PSBSA 20-Li A1, and PSBSA 20-Li B2 cordless drills, impact drivers, and saws. Replaces OEM part numbers PAP 20 A1 and PAP 20 B3.
20V lithium-ion at 2000mAh delivers 40Wh of usable energy to sustain power output across drill, driver, and saw loads without voltage sag.
Flat slide connector seats straight into the tool pack slot with no rotation required; locking tab engages firmly and prevents accidental ejection during operation.
We bench-tested this cell across three full charge cycles in a Parkside 20V charger; BMS accepted handshake on cycle one, voltage held steady under sustained drill load.
On first use with this pack, run the drill at half trigger for two cycles before full-load fastening—allows the BMS to map motor inrush current before locking overcurrent thresholds.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Parkside PSBSA 20-Li-C3 — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PAP 20 A1)

This is a 20V 2000mAh (40Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Parkside PSBSA 20-Li-C3 and related 20V cordless tools. It also fits the PSBSA 20-Li A1, PSBSA 20-Li B2, and Parkside 20V 3-in-1 Cordless Impact Drill. OEM part numbers PAP 20 A1 and PAP 20 B3 confirm the match.

  • PSBSA 20V platform fit: These models share a common 20V rail, slide-in connector, and BMS handshake protocol. The pack locks and communicates with the charger the same way across the entire PSBSA 20V family, so one battery moves between compatible tools without adjustment.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on a Parkside 20V charger and monitored BMS response during trigger-pull inrush events. The protection circuit held across repeated motor-start spikes without tripping into fault mode.
  • First-use load cycling: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and calibrate its overcurrent thresholds before you put the tool under maximum demand.

BMS cutoff on drill motor-start inrush surge

When you pull the trigger hard on a cold or freshly installed battery, the motor draws a sharp current spike — often 3 to 5 times the running current — in the first milliseconds. If the BMS hasn't profiled that motor yet, it may read the spike as a fault and cut power instantly. This is not a dead battery. Let the pack rest for 30 seconds, then re-engage with a light trigger pull. After one or two soft-start cycles, the BMS sets a higher inrush threshold and the problem stops.

Charger blinking red on a new 20V pack after storage

Parkside 20V chargers reject packs where cell voltage has dropped below the acceptance floor — typically around 2.5V per cell. A pack that's been sitting in a warehouse or a cold garage can fall below that threshold without being damaged. The fix is to briefly connect the pack to the charger, remove it after 5 seconds, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect. Repeating this 3 to 4 times wakes the BMS and nudges cell voltage above the charger's acceptance floor. Once the charger sees a voltage it recognises, it enters normal charge mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Parkside drill cuts out instantly the moment I pull the trigger — is the battery faulty?

Not necessarily. A hard trigger pull causes a motor-start inrush spike that can trip the BMS overcurrent protection before the tool reaches running speed. Re-seat the battery, wait 30 seconds, then pull the trigger slowly for the first two uses. This allows the BMS to log the inrush profile and raise its threshold accordingly. If the cutout continues after three soft-start cycles, check the contact rails on both the battery and the tool for oxidation or debris.

The tool runs fine for the first minute then bogs down badly under load — what's happening?

This is voltage sag, not a capacity failure. Under sustained heavy load — like driving long screws back-to-back or cutting thick timber — cell voltage drops faster than the BMS can compensate, and the tool loses torque. First, clean the battery contact rails with a dry cloth; high resistance at the contacts accelerates sag. If sag persists, check that the pack has completed at least two full charge cycles, as a partially conditioned pack shows worse sag under load until the cells reach stable capacity.

My Parkside 20V battery drains noticeably faster in winter — is something wrong with the pack?

Nothing is wrong. Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces available current and shortens usable charge per session. Bring the battery indoors for at least an hour before use in cold conditions. Do not charge a pack that's been outside in freezing temperatures — charge at room temperature first, then take it out to the job. Cell performance returns to normal once the pack warms above 10°C.
