Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

LG PH550 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EAC63238201)
This is a 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the LG PH550 portable projector. It slots into the PH550's battery compartment and restores cordless operation when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly.
- PH550 platform fit: The PH550 uses a dedicated battery bay with a proprietary connector and a BMS that handshakes with the projector's charge controller. This cell matches that connector pinout and communicates correctly with the onboard management circuit — the projector reads state-of-charge accurately and does not trigger false-empty shutdowns at the hardware level.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the PH550. The BMS held the cutoff voltage at the expected floor, charge termination triggered cleanly at full capacity, and the projector's battery indicator tracked correctly through the full discharge curve.
- Lamp draw management in use: Set the PH550 to eco or low-brightness mode during battery operation. Full lamp brightness pulls 30–40% more current from the cell than eco mode does — this is the single biggest variable affecting how long the projector runs on one charge.
Why the PH550 shuts off before the battery indicator reaches empty
The PH550's lamp requires a minimum supply voltage to sustain ignition — typically around 6.8–7.0V under load. As the Li-ion cell depletes, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under the lamp's current draw. The projector cuts the lamp before the battery indicator formally reads empty because the voltage under load has already dropped below the lamp's operating floor. Switching to eco mode reduces current draw and lowers the voltage sag, keeping the lamp alive longer into the discharge curve.
PH550 not charging — projector plugged in but battery percentage stays flat
The PH550's internal charger uses a CC-CV profile matched to a 7.4V Li-ion pack — if the replacement cell's protection circuit has tripped due to over-discharge, the charger may not deliver enough initial current to wake it. Remove the battery, leave it out for 60 seconds, reinsert it, then connect mains power with the projector switched off. If the charge indicator still does not activate after five minutes, check that the cell resting voltage is above 5.5V with a multimeter — below that threshold, the BMS may require a pre-charge pulse the internal charger cannot supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LG PH550 projector keeps shutting off mid-presentation even though the battery indicator shows charge remaining — what's happening?
The lamp needs a minimum voltage to stay on — around 6.8–7.0V under load. As the battery depletes, internal resistance causes voltage to sag under the lamp's current draw, and the projector cuts power before the indicator reaches empty. This is a voltage-floor shutdown, not a faulty battery reading. Switch to eco brightness mode to reduce current draw and keep the voltage above the lamp's cutoff point for longer into the discharge cycle.
The PH550 picture looks noticeably dimmer on battery than when it's plugged into mains — is the battery faulty?
It is not a fault. The PH550 actively reduces lamp power when running on battery to manage current draw from the cell. This is controlled by the projector's firmware, not by the battery. Mains power removes that constraint, so the lamp runs at full rated output. If you need full brightness on battery, check the projector's settings menu — some firmware versions allow the restriction to be overridden, though doing so will shorten the time before the voltage-floor shutdown described above.
The LG PH550 battery charged fine for months, but now it drains noticeably faster than it used to — what causes that?
Li-ion cells lose capacity through charge cycles — each full cycle permanently reduces the cell's usable capacity by a small percentage. If the projector was regularly run at full brightness, the higher current draw accelerates this degradation by generating more heat inside the cell during discharge. A replacement cell at 2600mAh will restore original capacity. To slow future degradation, keep the projector in eco mode on battery and avoid leaving the battery in a fully depleted state for extended periods between uses.
