The projector cuts the lamp before the battery indicator formally reads empty because the voltage under load has already dropped below the lamp's operating floor. The PH550's internal charger uses a CC-CV profile matched to a 7.4V Li-ion pack — if the replacement cell's protection circuit has tripped due to over-discharge, the charger may not deliver enough initial current to wake it.
