Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Optoma PK201 / PK301 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BBPK3ALIS)
This is a 3.7V 1350mAh Li-ion battery for the Optoma PK201 and PK301 pocket projectors. It slots into either unit and restores wireless operation for mobile presentations away from a wall outlet. Capacity matches the original 5Wh specification.
- PK201 and PK301 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — 65.00 × 38.50 × 5.50mm cell footprint with identical charge termination voltage. One part number covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the PK201's internal charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge termination correctly and reported state-of-charge accurately on the projector's battery indicator.
- Lamp brightness and draw management: Set the PK201 or PK301 to eco mode when running on battery. Full brightness pulls 30–40% more current from the cell than eco mode. In most presentation environments, the visible difference is negligible, but the current draw difference is not.
Why the PK201 shuts off before the battery indicator reaches empty
The LED lamp module in the PK201 requires a higher minimum supply voltage than the projector's low-battery cutoff threshold is set to catch. When the cell drops below roughly 3.2V under the lamp's load, the projector loses the voltage headroom the lamp driver needs and cuts power — even if the battery indicator still shows a bar or two. This is a lamp driver voltage floor issue, not a faulty battery. A fresh cell with full capacity reduces how quickly you hit that floor.
Battery indicator shows full but projector won't start
A deeply discharged Li-ion cell can sit below the BMS re-initialisation threshold — the projector sees a connected battery but the BMS has locked output to protect the cell. The battery indicator reads incorrectly because the projector is sampling open-circuit voltage, not a live discharge load. Connect the projector to mains power first and leave it on charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to boot on battery alone. If the BMS recovers, the indicator will reset; charge to 4.2V before the next battery-only session.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PK201 cuts out mid-presentation even though the battery still shows charge — is the battery defective?
It is not defective. The PK201's lamp driver needs a minimum supply voltage that the cell drops below under load before the battery indicator catches up — the projector shuts off while the gauge still shows remaining charge. An aged cell with reduced capacity hits that voltage floor faster because internal resistance rises as cells degrade. A new cell at full 1350mAh capacity gives you more headroom before that cutoff. Set the projector to eco mode to reduce lamp current draw and push that cutoff point later in the discharge cycle.
The projected image looks noticeably dimmer on battery than when plugged into mains — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The PK201 deliberately reduces lamp power when running on battery to manage current draw from the 3.7V cell. This is a firmware-level power management decision by the projector, not a sign of a weak battery. You will see this behaviour with any battery, including the original. Switching to eco mode in the projector's settings removes the visible brightness gap because the lamp is already running at the reduced output level the projector targets on battery.
My replacement battery charged fully but the projector still shows a low-battery warning on startup — what do I do?
This usually means the BMS has not recalibrated its state-of-charge reference after the first charge cycle on a new cell. Run the projector on battery only until the BMS triggers a low-voltage cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 4.2V. One full discharge-to-cutoff and recharge cycle resets the fuel gauge logic so the battery indicator tracks correctly against the new cell's actual capacity.
