Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Braven BRV-1M — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BRV-1M)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Braven BRV-1M portable Bluetooth speaker. It restores cordless audio playback when the factory cell has degraded or failed. Capacity is 12.58Wh, matching the original power envelope for the BRV-1M's amplifier and Bluetooth radio.

  • BRV-1M platform fit: The BRV-1M uses a single flat Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal to power both the Bluetooth radio and the Class D amplifier from one shared rail. This replacement cell matches that rail voltage and connector orientation so the onboard BMS can communicate correctly with the charge controller.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the BRV-1M board. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, the charge indicator stepped through all stages cleanly, and the amplifier drew current across the full output range without triggering a low-voltage cutoff.
  • Fuel gauge reset on first use: After fitting this cell, run the BRV-1M down until it powers off, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% before using it again. Skipping this step leaves the fuel gauge calibrated to the old cell's degraded capacity and the indicator will read inaccurately from day one.

Capacity fade on the BRV-1M from constant top-off charging

Most BRV-1M owners charge the speaker on a desk between every use, often plugging in after only 20–30% discharge. Li-ion cells kept near full charge continuously experience accelerated cathode stress, which reduces usable capacity over months. The fuel gauge also drifts — the speaker may show a full bar while the actual cell capacity is significantly lower. To slow this, let the cell drop below 20% at least once a month before recharging fully.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

The BRV-1M's amplifier pulls peak current during loud passages, which causes the cell voltage to sag below the amplifier's clean operating threshold before the fuel gauge triggers the low-battery warning. This appears as crackling or clipping at higher volumes when the battery looks half full. It is a voltage sag issue, not a speaker fault. Charging to full and checking that the replacement cell holds above 3.5V under load will confirm whether the old cell was the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BRV-1M shows a full charge but the audio cuts out or gets choppy after about an hour — is that the battery?

Yes, this is fuel gauge drift from a degraded cell. The cell's actual capacity has dropped, but the charge indicator is still calibrated to the original full-capacity baseline, so it reads higher than reality. Fit the new cell, then run one full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to recalibrate the gauge. After that cycle, the indicator will track accurately.

The Braven BRV-1M drops Bluetooth connection when the volume is pushed high — could that be the battery?

At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously, which can pull a weak cell below the radio module's minimum operating voltage for a fraction of a second — enough to drop the connection. A healthy cell at 3.7V nominal holds voltage under that combined load without sagging. If Bluetooth drops only at high volume and not at moderate levels, replacing the battery and testing at full charge will confirm whether the cell was the cause.

The BRV-1M won't respond to the USB charge cable after being left uncharged for several months — is it recoverable?

When a Li-ion cell discharges below roughly 2.5V through long-term self-discharge, the BMS blocks incoming charge current as a protection measure and the device appears completely dead at the USB port. Replacing the cell with this unit bypasses the over-discharged cell entirely. Once the new cell is fitted, connect the USB cable — the BMS will accept charge current immediately from a resting voltage of around 3.6–3.7V.
