Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Braven BRV-Blade / BRVBLDBB — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (22430)

This 7.4V, 4000mAh Li-ion battery fits the Braven BRV-Blade and BRVBLDBB portable Bluetooth speakers. It replaces OEM part number 22430 and restores the speaker's ability to run untethered from a power source. Capacity matches the original pack at 29.6Wh.

  • BRV-Blade and BRVBLDBB compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — a single replacement pack covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the BRV-Blade's onboard charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge correctly, balanced cells within spec, and triggered protection cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for the BRV-Blade: If the speaker stays docked or topped off daily, run it down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant shallow cycling without a full discharge causes fuel gauge drift — the indicator will read full while actual usable capacity quietly drops.

Bluetooth dropping at high volume on the BRV-Blade

At maximum volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio pull current simultaneously — peak draw spikes sharply. If the cell has degraded internal resistance, voltage sags under that combined load. The BMS reads the sag as a low-voltage event and briefly restricts output, which drops the Bluetooth link before the battery indicator moves at all. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance handles the current spike without triggering that protection threshold.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when the cell's actual voltage falls faster than the fuel gauge tracks it. The amplifier clips because its rail voltage is already sagging while the indicator still shows one or two bars remaining. The BRV-Blade's gauge samples voltage at rest, not under load — so it lags behind real-world drain. If distortion starts consistently above 20% indicated charge, check the resting cell voltage with a multimeter; a healthy 7.4V pack should read above 7.0V at that state of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BRV-Blade speaker shows a full charge but the audio starts cutting out after about an hour of use — is this a battery problem?

Yes — this is a classic fuel gauge drift symptom from shallow cycling. The indicator reports full because it was never properly recalibrated, but actual cell capacity has dropped well below the original 4000mAh. Run the speaker all the way down until it shuts off, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% — one full cycle resets the gauge reference point and gives you an accurate read on remaining capacity.

The BRV-Blade won't wake up at all after sitting unused for a few months — it doesn't respond to the USB charge cable either.

Extended storage drained the cell below the USB acceptance threshold, so the charger handshake never completes. We see this consistently on deeply discharged Li-ion packs — the BMS locks out charging to protect the cell. Try holding the power button for 10 seconds first; some BRV-Blade units have a soft reset that re-initialises the BMS. If it still won't respond, apply charge via a bench supply at a low rate (around 0.1C, roughly 400mA) to bring the cell above 6.0V, after which the onboard charger should take over normally.

The BRV-Blade gets noticeably warm on the underside during long outdoor sessions — is that coming from the battery or the amplifier?

Both contribute. The amplifier generates heat under sustained output, and the Li-ion cell adds its own discharge heat — in the BRV-Blade's compact housing, neither source has much airflow to dissipate into. Surface warmth during play is normal, but if the speaker becomes hot to the touch or throttles output, that points to the BMS entering thermal protection. Keep the speaker out of direct sunlight during use and avoid setting it on insulating surfaces like fabric or sand, which trap heat against the housing.
