Fits Sokkia SHC-5000 surveying controller; replaces OEM part numbers 1013591-01, 25260, and 1029732-01.
3.7V 10400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity across sustained data logging and GPS receiver initialization without voltage sag.
Connector slides vertically into battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush with housing when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this pack through five charge cycles on Sokkia standard charger; BMS accepted handshake on first insertion with no fault codes.
After installation, run one full survey session in the office before field deployment — the instrument recalibrates its voltage threshold during active measurement, and skipping this step causes premature shutdown warnings on site.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sokkia SHC-5000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1013591-01)

This 3.7V 10400mAh (38.48Wh) Li-ion battery is a direct replacement for the Sokkia SHC-5000 handheld field controller. The SHC-5000 is a surveying data collector used with total stations and GNSS receivers on construction and geomatics sites. OEM part numbers covered: 1013591-01, 25260, and 1029732-01.

  • SHC-5000 and SHC5000 fit: Both model designations reference the same hardware platform — identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the SHC-5000's communication workflows — active GPS polling, Bluetooth data link, and sustained screen-on logging. The BMS held stable under combined draw without tripping cutoff.
  • Post-install calibration step: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the SHC-5000's system menu before heading into the field. The controller maps battery state during that process. Skip it, and the low-battery warning will trigger well ahead of actual depletion on the first session.

BMS cutoff when the SHC-5000 initialises a connected instrument

When the SHC-5000 powers up a connected total station or GNSS receiver over its data port, the initialisation handshake pulls a brief current spike. A degraded or deeply discharged replacement pack can read this spike as an overcurrent event and trip the BMS cutoff. This causes the controller to shut off within seconds of instrument connection — not at startup itself. The fix is to charge the pack to full before the first connected session, so cell voltage is high enough that the BMS threshold isn't marginal when the spike hits.

SHC-5000 shows erratic battery percentage after swapping packs

The SHC-5000's charge indicator is calibrated to the voltage curve of the installed pack. Swapping in a new cell with a different resting voltage shifts the reference point the controller uses to estimate remaining charge. This shows up as sudden jumps — 80% dropping to 20% in minutes, or the display reading full when the battery is partially depleted. Running one complete discharge-to-recharge cycle through the controller normalises the voltage mapping. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise to within a few percent of actual state.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SHC-5000 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data transfer to the laptop — is this the battery?

Almost certainly. USB data transfer to a PC adds a combined draw — active screen, Bluetooth or serial stack, and USB controller — that pushes current demand well above what the SHC-5000 pulls at idle. If the pack voltage is slightly low or the cells are aged, the BMS reads the combined load as an overcurrent condition and cuts power. Charge the pack fully before attempting transfer, and confirm voltage reads at or above 3.7V before connecting the cable.

My replacement pack won't charge at all after the SHC-5000 sat in the case for several months — charger shows no activity.

Extended storage drains the pack below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 2.5V per cell — and the protection circuit locks the pack out to prevent unsafe charging. The SHC-5000 charger won't initiate a charge cycle on a locked pack because it sees no valid voltage response. Some chargers have a recovery or "boost" mode that applies a low-current trickle to bring cell voltage back above the unlock threshold; use that first. If your charger lacks that mode, a lab bench charger set to 0.1A at 3.7V for 10–15 minutes is enough to recover the pack to a chargeable state.

During a long logging session, the SHC-5000's GPS readings start dropping or the data log resets mid-job — what's happening?

This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load. During extended GNSS logging, the combined draw of the receiver, screen, and active data polling causes gradual cell voltage sag. When voltage dips below the controller's operating floor — even briefly — the SHC-5000 resets the active process without fully powering off. It looks like a software glitch but it's electrical. Run the post-install calibration cycle through the system menu so the controller's low-voltage threshold is correctly mapped to this pack's actual discharge curve before your next field session.
