Fits Amazon Kindle Fire M8S26G and Kindle Fire 2019 9th Generation tablets, replacing OEM part MC-308695.
3.8V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery delivers the same power density as the original cell.
Connector type is proprietary Amazon dock — verify orientation and alignment before seating into the slot.
We ran full charge and discharge cycles; the BMS accepted voltage handshake without fault codes.
After installation, run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and corrects inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Amazon Kindle Fire 2019 9th Generation — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MC-308695)

This 3.8V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Amazon Kindle Fire M8S26G and Kindle Fire 2019 9th Generation tablets. It matches the OEM part numbers MC-308695, 58-000255, and ST28. When the original cell no longer holds a charge or the tablet shuts down unexpectedly, this is the direct replacement cell for that board.

  • Kindle Fire 9th Gen platform fit: The M8S26G and the 2019 9th Generation Kindle Fire share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Both accept this 97.00 × 84.90 × 2.62mm cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on a Kindle Fire 9th Gen unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, reported state-of-charge correctly after one full calibration cycle, and held voltage within spec across display and WiFi combined load.
  • Fuel gauge IC reset after installation: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The Kindle's fuel gauge IC calibrates against the new cell during that first cycle. Skipping this step causes the percentage display to read inaccurately for days.

Kindle Fire 9th Gen shutting down at 15–25% remaining after a battery swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The new cell has a slightly different discharge profile, and the IC interprets a voltage dip under combined display and WiFi load as a critical low-battery condition. The tablet triggers a protective shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the IC's reference points and resolves the premature cutoff.

Fast charging not available on the Kindle Fire after battery replacement

The Kindle Fire's charge IC uses a USB-PD negotiation handshake to enable faster charge rates. On a freshly installed cell, that handshake sometimes does not complete until the battery has accepted at least one full charge cycle. Use the original Amazon 9W adapter, not a third-party charger, for the first charge. After one complete cycle the charge IC re-negotiates correctly and faster charging resumes at the standard rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Kindle Fire 9th Gen is showing 80% battery right after I charged it to full — why is the percentage wrong after the battery swap?

The fuel gauge IC inside the tablet was calibrated to the resistance and voltage curve of the old cell. A new cell has slightly different characteristics, so the IC misreads state-of-charge until it learns the new reference points. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff from a full charge, then charge uninterrupted back to 100% without using the tablet. After that single cycle the percentage reading stabilises.

My Kindle Fire drops from around 20% straight to dead with no warning — is the new battery faulty?

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a faulty cell. Under the combined load of the backlit display and active WiFi, the battery voltage sags briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold, and the tablet shuts down even though capacity remains. The fuel gauge IC triggers the shutdown because it hasn't mapped the new cell's discharge curve yet. Complete one full discharge-to-shutoff and then a full uninterrupted charge — after that cycle the BMS maps the actual voltage floor and the premature shutdowns stop.

The Kindle Fire feels warm near the charging port while the new battery is charging — is something wrong with the replacement cell?

Warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new lithium-polymer cell is normal. The charge IC runs a slightly higher current acceptance rate while it characterises the new cell's internal resistance. We measured surface temperature on the bench during initial charging and it stayed within safe operating range throughout. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or if the case starts to bulge, disconnect immediately and check that the connector is fully seated flat.
